Hi Folks,

I'm on my way to install the trackin handling pack M-FR3A-M8A on my '18 GT.
As everyone, I was wondering how to adjust camber in the front, besides camber bolt (I don't like them), and camber plates (I don't want to disassemble my strut). This isn't for a heavy track use though so I don't need -2.5 camber :)
I finally found a response in an official Ford Performance documentation talking about the strut itself (see attached PDF). They say that we can slot the lower mounting hole with some restrictions.

Hope this helps !

Yves.

That's what shop manual shows ever since those cars were released in 2015.

Slotting can work but its also a weak point as the bolt can slip in the slotted hole. Had that happen a couple times. Camber plates are a better option IMVHO. Good luck!

hmmm, Good point . Didn't think it could move tightened at 150 Nm.

I'm waiting for an official answer from Ford Performance on this. But yeah camber plates is the best way to do. Which one do you guys recommend ? I seems that Steeda are very popular.

It shouldn't, but I've had them move on me. Definitely use new bolts and not reuse them to make sure the bolt stretch is to spec and you're getting the full intended clamping force. I got sick of worrying about that after slipping one and having the nut fall off another, and had a buddy tack weld some metal into the slot to fix the bolt in the new position. That worked.

The torque on those main strut to spindle bolts is ~186 ft lbs, which is like 250nm (not 150).

The Steeda camber plates worked well for me. Good prices, plenty of adjustment range, and seemed robust. No undesirable noises either.

If you look at both pictures (the one you mentioned is an S197 not S550) the S550 shock does not have the same reinforcement around the lower part of the shock to allow the slotting without weakening it, from my view. The S197 has a folded crease to the bracket

I believe the procedure on the S550 is to slot the top hole anyway.

Yikes... not a lot of meat on the metal once you get close to the edge...
Manual only says to slot 1mm per side so not really that much. But it's a bad idea overall for reasons others mentioned above, sometimes the only one available though.

The slotting isn’t particularly rewarding to do and I recommend plates if at all possible.

Despite throwing my car into dirt sideways semi-regularly, the bolts have not slipped:

How much Camber do you want.? My drop was similar to what you are doing. Without any mods the camber was pretty good for street driving.

Not some much, between -1 and -1.5. Would it be achievable as is?
