So in addition to the blower, so far we are at:

Crank Gear
TSS Oil Pump Gear
MRR Timing Gear
ATI 6 rib damper

This all get's pretty damn expensive!!
I think for those with street cars who don't race if you stay around 650-700 whp and your not revving it high and always hitting the rev limiter than its all not needed. Not to say that it won't give you piece of mind becuase there is an obvious paranoia floating around that is sucking us all in.

The other important factor is a good safe calibration that has advanced knock control features like Whipple has to keep things in tact.

Yeah I hear you Roh, but even as a just a casual street cruiser guy, I just like things done right. So how much more does the OPG and timing gear add to the price, including install?

Agreed. Until after my deployment, I'll be playing it safe and shifting at 7k and not launching. Then, knocking out all the supporting mods that have been deemed necessary (OPG, timing sprocket, tensioner, axles, clutch, etc)

X2. I think I've seen the average about 1,200 total.

I would do this in a heartbeat if I just didn't hate messing with timing components so damn much. it was the bane of my existence as a mech :/

There is way tooooo much OPG and timing gear drama and paranoia. Sooooo many running forced induction without. If your racing and high reving high then yes be concerned.

My timing gear broke at 3000 RPM under full throttle. It is not rpm or rev limiter specific. I agree it may never happen but I have a good example on my desk.

$600 now or $4000 later + $600.

Is that one of the reasons you sold the car? Lost the faith? Or did that happen to your 2016?

You are right about the paranoia, but it's hard not to say it's not valid, at the least. I'm pretty sure I'll baby my car more than others, but as I said before, luck is not my strong suit haha.

Spoiler...just when we all were starting to calm down. Now we'll all need Prozac again:clap2:

No really man, not taking anything away from you, but how many others have had the same issue as you. There are so many people running forced induction I'm sure in the hundreds without these mods and some really pushing making 750-850 whp and more drag racing trapping at 140-150. If this were a real common issue and weak link it would be all and likely recommend by SC manufactures with their kits. Not it hasn't happened to some and for what reasons really?

I agree it's probably overkill. Especially since mine is a daily driver. But when the Whipple install is done, that is my cheapest/quickest time to go ahead and throwin the OPG's and sprocket. Right now I have zero ambition to go smaller puller and push the limits of the Whipple. But justtt in case that ever changes, I will have the safety items in place. One of those.. don't "need" it, until you wish you had it... type deals
