What's the difference between the ford racing Boss oil pump and the MMR Hurricane oil pump? Do they both have billet oil pump gears inside? Also would it be cheaper and easier just to purchase the billet oil pump gears and install on the stock oil pump? I'm in the process of putting together a parts list to upgrade those components over the winter.

Good question. I would like to know for the future as well. Seems like it would be easier to change the oil pump vs pulling out and changing the gears but I don't know wth I'm talking about.

Show me the people with stock ones broken.

Internet problems get blown up too easily. People take what one guy says and turn into fact.

I've seen proof of one of these broken so far. It's not a widespread problem, especially at stock power levels. Boosted, it's probably good insurance.
Hi everybody
Don’t want to jump the gun but my stock 2015 Gt has bent valves on number 5 cylinder I don’t track the car and out of warranty with 60k
Will update the problem as soon as I know

Yep, it happens. Mechanical failures happen.

How did you bend them? And how did you find out they were bent? Car running bad?

Changing the gears is very straightforward if you’ve already got to the pump it’s a lot cheaper to just change the gears. To my knowledge the boss pump does not come with billet gears. MMR takes a stock pump rebuilds it to their specs with their gear

Edit: I double checked and the boss pump is exactly the same as 15-17 gt

The 15-17 have had problems with the secondary timing chains breaking or stretching or jumping time at high rpms. I recommend upgrading these and use gt350 primary chains anytime you open up the engine
Or you floated the valves

Hi there,
I had it diagnosed by a mechanic that said number 5 cylinder bent valve!
Not sure which valve yet.
Took it to the ford dealer will know in a few days what’s wrong...
IMO the timing chain skipped a tooth...

A few days before it happened I started the car drove for five minutes and I heard her a bearing sound a whining sound very slight and it went away then a few days after started the car again drove for five minutes at a stoplight it started shaking so I pulled over and parked

What is the basis of your assumption? Which chain? Primary or secondary? You are just guessing at this point.

Hi everybody
Just an update they haven’t removed the timing chain cover but the mechanic at the ford dealer found a broken spring on one of the intake valve
I’ll update more tomorrow
