I have a fbo 17 GT. I have an 18 manifold that’s ported. Would I see any benefit from going to a BBK 85mm or 90mm TB? I know there is some tune issues with the GT350 TB and basically zero gains. I’ve spoken to a tuner and they say the same, but I have to think my stock 80mm TB is a restriction vs my intake manifold inlet size of 87mm+. BBK is advertising 8-12hp gain without a tune. Also they say drivability is like stock. Any advice or experiences out there??

Lund told me the after market TBs aren't worth the tuning headaches. My car has always run good. So that advice is good enough for me.

Just got your stock TB ported. Mine is now 85MM. Cost $185.00.

I choose to believe this as well which is why I won't be messing with my TB.

Lund told me
Lund does copy & paste tunes. That's there money maker. They won't sit there and try to make a larger TB work unless your willing to pay BIG BUCKS, then damn skippy it'll make some ponies. What you need to do is find a independant good tuner or another company that's willing to give it a shot. I'd try VMP or STEEDA.

Why don't you try the ford racing stage 2 power pack? It comes with a factory original 87 mm TB and the gt 350 CAI and a tune straight from the engineers at ford, and comes with a pro-cal device to load the tune. It also boasts a 40 lb ft gain at 1500 rpm. Well worth the 7 bills it will cost you. Considering an aftermarket 85 or 90 mm tb will run you about 500, and a custom tune and dyno session will run you another 500 and that is if you already have a tuning device like an X4 from SCT.

Now I have heard that the 85 and 90 mm tb's are easy to tune for but the 87 is a bitch, but the 87 is about 200 new and is a factory ford part, while the 85 and 90 are 500 plus and are not ford parts and the durability is questionable. For the money the stage 2 power pack is the best bang for the buck, factory parts that are durable and a ford racing tune that actually works quit well.

Plus 1 on the PP2 from Ford-i just did it, an hour of my time , 700 of my dollars and the gains were very well worth it.

The factory 80mm TB already flows 900 CFM. Unless you have a very tricked out engine or FI, it will never get near that flow.

900 CFM is about 66 lbs per min.

Porting your TB is a waste. Porting your manifold is not. You don't need a bigger TB unless you're forced induction.

The reason Ford does the GT350 TB with the manifold is because it fits without an adapter. It doesn't make more power.
