Hello everyone,

i need recommendations, for My Next Mod

my next mod will be a Short Shifter,

cannot decide whether to go with a Barton Shifter from AM. Or a MGW race Shifter.
I’m ready to “bang” some gears lol.
If anyone has some insight on how they are doing for you that’d be great

I installed the ford performance short shifter kit. I like it.

I love my MGW. Installation is a bear though.

I went with a Boomba, which removes the factory shift post (the portion above the pivot point that has the shifter knob at its top) and replaces it with a post 1.5" shorter. This is done from above, and reduces shifter throw by 25%. And, no, I am not affiliated with Boomba. Just determined this to be the best/easiest solution for me.

Then, from below, I tied the shifter to the tranny with a bracket.

The shifter vibrates with the tranny, but makes no noise.

I love mine also. I figured it was easier to just pay the 2 hours labor at a performance shop for the install.

I love my MGW. Installation is a bear though.

MGW.
MGW.
MGW.

Installation is not trivial, but neither are the results.

I had an MGW on my S197, and now on my S550. I cannot say enough good things about them and their products. When I called them about the S550 shifter, the OWNER took my call and offered his recommendation.

I've been reading a lot about MGW and by far I am impressed...

I installed the steeda race short shifter on my car as my first mod to it. Not using any of the supplied springs to stiffen it up side to side. Added a weighted raceseng shift knob as well and it feels great now (great addition, expensive but worth it) Solid click into gear now with this setup. Bg fluid in the transmission and royal purple in the differential. It did take about 1200 miles for the noises to settle down. It had a buzz under acceleration at first, And it was not the shift knob. But I did add a steeda trans mount insert and it was too much.

Have the baron on my 21. No problems with it. Pretty straight forward install

Steeda Tri-Ax Race Shifter with stiff springs and keep the factory reverse lockout setup. Note: I do believe Barton allows for this too, but not MGW. Someone please correct me if I’m wrong about the MGW. Lastly, I don’t think you can go wrong with any of them.

if you do just a 'stalk' replacment (FP, Steeda, Barton) be sure to also install the Steeda/Barton shifter bracket. Far more important mod than the shifter stalk itself.

I had the Barton on both of mine and loved them. I trans-mounted both of them.
