It's almost time for new track pads, I currently am using PowerStop Trackl Day pads. They seem to of lasted fairly well so far. I looked back over the Hawk for my 2020 GT and they are double the price of the PowerStops, for Gloc and I can't tell because their web code keeps blowing up when I try to search (spend some dollars on a real website dudes!) so what makes G-Loc or Hawk so much better than Powerstop? Now into Season 2 of the addiction and will make reasonable spends if it improves the track experience and performance.

The power stop brand is just not as reputable as the Hawk or G-loc counterparts. I would also not be surprised if their 'track day' pads are equivalent to the hawk or G-loc "street pads."

I haven't looked at the temperature range for the power stop pads but if they are 800 degrees plus then you should be fine on track. I do however see you getting faster as you spend more time behind the wheel and you'll want to move up to higher compounds anyway :like:

The Powerstops don't have the same heat range as the big name brands.
Hawk, Gloc, Raybestos, Pagid, Counterspace Garage, etc; these are all common race pads. Some last longer than others but will also cost more. There's no "best" just try some different brands out and see what you like.

There are few things you can do to the car that will improve your track day experience more than improving the brakes. Off hand, I’d say just safety equipment and tires.

Before throwing too much money at it, make sure you’re getting enough coaching/instruction.

Taking sage advice I did my first season last year with the Seat time mod. Used up my stock brakes and sport 4S's too. I did have to get track brakes finally at end of last summer. Over my winter I added Apex EC-7 wheels, Falken RT660 tires, Steeda sway bars and Steeda Dual Rate springs for Magnaride, Schroth quick fit harnesses. Stopped there to see how all that works while still doing the seat time mod.

fyi I've been running Novice with instructors then ended the season running Novice solo. Always am coachable.

You’re on the right track for sure. I don’t have any personal experience with Powerstop pads. I do love Hawk. Everyone seems to agree on G-Loc. In addition to performance they offer another advantage in that you can select a street compound and a track compound that are compatible and make switching back and forth seamless, eliminating the compromise of asking one compound to do both jobs. Reach out to @optimum from above. Super helpful folks.

Making the switch between compounds was my biggest factor in choosing the HPS 5.0 instead of a DTC compound. If I had known you can interchange the Hawk compounds on the same rotor without too many side affects I would have gotten dedicated track pads as well. Is this really the case?

I should have been more clear. Though I do love Hawk brakes, I have not tried interchanging them from track to street and back. I’ve heard that technique is easily employed with G-Loc. It sounds smart but I don’t have firsthand experience.

I'm going through this now, too. I've been running Hawk DTC60 up front and OEM or Raybestos in the rear.

I think that Hawk and OEM front pads stop and create dust about the same. My dba rotors have the surface cracks and will need replacing soon.

I've concluded that while the advanced drivers and instructors recommend the expensive pads, they also brake hard, late, and consistently. That's not me (yet).
So I fail to see the need to spend $6-900 on a full set of pads when I am still working up to threshold braking.

EDIT: I am also still on 275 PS4's so a high-bite pad will only lock these up. No bueno.

After track day I actually take my car to the drive-through wash (with good plastic guards on their tracks, plus my car is not lowered). Right before going in I spray down my wheels and tires with CG wheel cleaner and let it soak a few minutes. So that is how I deal with the dust. Then I swap to daily wheels and Z23 pads for the street.

I have the six piston Brembo's. Mentioned in another reply for now I'm using Falken RT660's 295/35ZR19 all around.
If you want a pad that is tolerable on the street and light years ahead of Track Day pads, G-LOC R10 Front and R8 rears. 1400F temp range, I've pulled 1.4g braking into T1 at Daytona on a 300TW tire from 150mph. Brake dust cleans off with simple green and a rag. Easy on rotors.

Not bad, honestly the rear sliding caliper causes the most because sliding caliper. If you do a quick swerve it knocks them into submission. Plus my radio still works, and I like putting myself through the windshield.
