Diff isnt typical a big issue on 10speed.
Trans will be. Especially with higher ambient temps. Never ever go above 225f on trans temps.
Ypu will suffer with vert high temps on engine oil.
As mentioned is all depending how fast you are.
The faster the more heat.

Alex
Good to hear on diff! Thank you!
Thank you for the info.

You will be fine at your level
Remember that speed is a byproduct of skills, meaning that work on your lines, braking point, smoothness, apex, etc and the speed will naturally follow
Thank you. I definitely plan on soaking up all advice from experienced folks. Due to Covid, passenger seat instructors are limited. Or not allowed at my past event.
My Porsche buddy that got me into this has been doing this all his life, so I watch all his videos and ask lots of questions.

going to have rear diff, engine or trans overheating issues?
If you're going 9 or 10/10 the yes, most likely all 3.

If you pull it back down to 7/10 and do a cool-down lap halfway through the session you will be fine especially on a long track. Short tracks is what kills you as you don't get as much airflow through the coolers.

I completely agree with you on finding an instructor, unfortunately with Covid I haven’t found any that are riding passenger, only video record your lap, e-mail off, and get a video explanation. Which I’ll probably do.
Can you elaborate on your dangerous comments? I welcome all forms of criticism. I obviously have a lot to learn. If you only watched the first 3 laps where I look annoyed, during that time, I had a GT350 about 10feet off my bumper riding my ass under a yellow. The second I could point him by so he’d stay away from me, I did. He’s the same guy that passed under a yellow on the first lap out during our 60mph top speed “get to know the track” lap.

Hi folks. Quick question. I thought I did my homework in trackable cars, but scared I did not. Picked up a new 2020 GT last weekend, and heading to Oregon Raceway Park this weekend (HPDE type). The car is completely stock and will have 1,000 mi on it. It’s the 10-spd auto, with the PP1 package, and magnaride. Am I more likely than not, going to have rear diff, trans, or trans overheating issues?
I can’t figure out if these are all non-PP package issues, pre-2018 cars, 4cylturbo issues, or what. I took my Lexus GS350FSport a few weekends back and pushed it very hard, 5 x 20 min sessions, with zero issues. I know the 5.0 is much more powerful, but was really hoping I wouldn’t have to pull off the track early with overheating issues, being a PP equipped car.
Thanks!
Unfortunately they are all 2018-issues too. Is it too late to take it back and get a mach1 instead? ;-)

Agree with the others here. If you want to have "unrestricted fun" for at least some of the time, you will need to alternate fast and slower laps. Shifting at 7,000 or below also seems to help a fair amount.

On the trackmustangsonline forum, I've seen Racers360 been recommended by people I think are better than me, if you want some professional feedback. Not sure what it entails apart from recording your sessions and sending them the video, but you might look into that if interested.

Thank you! The Racers360 is what I was referring to in regards to sending in video to instructors.
Yep, I know on the GT350 LOL! I'm hoping that I can make the GT somewhat capable to manage a handful of road course events a year without breaking the bank.
Is there an auto-transmision cooling thread? I'll search around.

Well, I’m very sadly disappointed in the car, although power and handling did feel great. Sorta kept up with 2 x 911’s (veteran drivers, buddy was taking it easy on me) for multiple laps. I had to pull off track every session earlier than my 911 (997) buddy due to overheating of the rear diff. My engine oil temp was in the yellow - almost red, my transmission temp was right on the edge of overheating (actually did overheat and limited my RPM’s to cool down), and every session after 8-9 2:00min laps (16-20min) I was getting warnings on overheated rear diff. I have a ton of video but will take quite some time to upload. This is the only lap I uploaded and posted quickly. I’ll have a lot more over the next few days. Not entirely sure what I should do, but this car isn’t what I had hoped for in a track car. Most of the last half of the day I was worried about the car overheating so I’d push it on some areas, and not on others.
I ordered the BG 75w-140 I’ll install next week, and will also order the exhaust heat wrap. Anyone have a suggestion to the most effective wrap?

I know I have a lot to work on driving wise. The track was a tad scary (couldn’t see over the hills, and never been there before).

75/140 and wrapping the pipes by the differential did solve the issue for me
What was to ambient temperature?

It was 72 degrees at hottest part of day.

Check out the DIY for my diff cooler build. for between 400 to 475 you can cool that rear end better then the mustangs with OEM diff coolers.
Yep! Looked it over a bunch! Hoping I don’t have to do that! But will if needed.
Nice work on that!

Well, I’m very sadly disappointed in the car, although power and handling did feel great. Sorts kept up with 2 x 911’s (veteran drivers, buddy was taking it easy on me) for double digit laps. Probably why this thread has 45 pages ;)

LOL!!!
I was willing to pay MSRP on a Mach1 but the dealer wouldn’t go much under $10K over! Guess I’ll spend that on cooling parts :-) LOL

I mean, what did you expect? I full blown out race car for 45k and to compete with cars that cost 3-4x as much?

IMO this is the biggest problem...expectations. People buy a budget "performance" car and expect it to be a turn key track car. If people set their expectations properly from the beginning on what this car is (and isn't), this thread wouldn't have 45 pages.
