Well I will bow out of this convo. Hack, I understand your reasoning as I am in the same boat. 6'4 290+ lbs.....yeah skinny recardo's are not the menu for me. Though honestly I did not look into the order for this car, because I simply would not use it for what it was intended for, I did not know you could not get the regular seats in the track pack....But then again I guess it makes sense.

Well at any rate, it has been said, I have also heard from some people "in the know" in my neck of the woods that a fix is coming for those tech 15/16 owners. Now what it will intell and cost is another matter. But if a fix does come officially available by Ford, I guessing it will be worth getting it done to achieve what people want to do with the car no matter which version you had purchased.

I hope you guys are right about the FP fix, but it still sucks for guys like Hack and others that live in northern climates. I'm guessing the fix won't come it in time for this driving season. In a little over three months we will be looking at putting them away until next spring. So, it is a lost tracking season from that standpoint.

Off topic, but Hack. If Ford Performance doesn't have a fix by next summer, I'm going to call these guys and see if they can do the cooler mods. I haven't personally talked to them, but I've heard good thing both on the internet and via word of mouth.

What did people think the tranny any diff coolers where for?
Assuming I understand what you are asking - my belief over a year ago when I picked options was that if the ambient temperatures were in the 90s or higher and you were running longer than 20 minutes at a time or if you were a pro driver going at 10/10ths you would need the "all day track car" track pack version.

I understand you believe I'm an idiot for thinking that a tech pack GT350 would do at least as well as a base Mustang GT on the track. That's what I believed when I selected options. I still think my assumptions at that point were logical and reasonable based on the information I had at the time. I was very careful with this decision and spent a lot of time reading about the car as well as a lot of time thinking about what to order and why. I'm a relatively intelligent individual. You aren't going to be able to convince me that I'm an idiot for thinking the tech pack GT350 would do fine in reasonable conditions at an HPDE in the hands of a novice. Continue to feel welcome to hammer me about it, though. It keeps threads like this going and gives others the chance to say I'm constantly whining.

Good times.

Ehh, we will get there eventually. I'm still really glad I bought the car and all the waiting and wondering will be worth it once the car is fixed and works reliably on the track for the short, infrequent periods I will have it there.

Those guys have a great local reputation. I used them for a tune when I did a 408 4V iron headed Cleveland EFI build in an '87 Mustang a few years back.

Nice to have another good review about them. I would rather have a Ford Performance cooler solution on my car next spring. If not, I'll head to these guys and see if they can help me out.

To be honest I might of made a similar assumption before reading this forum. The cars ive tracked probably dont have temp sensors to go into limp. In a way im impressed the car has them.

If you don't have a tech or base '15-'16 GT350, what kind of void do you have in your life that you feel the need to give those of us who do own one grief in these threads. You have no investment in the car. Your points and arguements are uninformed to say the least.

You make it sound like Ford pull one over on everyone, or the Tech Pack cars are inferior for some reason??

1.) Technically, I bought a 2nd model year GT350.
2.) I knew exactly what I was purchasing, and I bought exactly what I wanted.
3.) For my daily driving and autocross events, the Tech Pack car is perfect.
3.) Once I get my coolers mounted, which I have most of the components purchased, I can ignore these types of discussions and focus more on track time improvements. Not a big issue at all with me.

I'm really starting to get tired of the crap being spewed here by people that don't have a GT350.
Great Point Dave. I agree 100%:amen:

I never left- just watched. For those of us that bought the cars, there was no information about overheating Tech Pack at the time, there was even pulled literature from Ford for dealers as to how to suggest which model to buy which included verbiage about only bringing the Tech pack cars to the track on a limited basis. The change for 17 is a clear indication that Ford understood the issue and wanted to correct it. Time will tell what Ford will do overall or for specific owners. I just think it's important that people talk because I believe there will be different solutions offered to different people.

My car went into limp on the way home from work today. Max transmission temp on display was 282 F. It was between 81 and 85 degrees outside.

Did you do anything differently than you normally do when going to work.

I'm surprised i haven't hit limp mode with the kind of driving i've been doing lately, not to mention the very hot and humid temps we've been getting lately.

One of you guys needs to wrap the sensor and connector in insulating tape and see what happens. If it is like the rear axle sensor it actually does not make contact with the fluid so case temperature is what it reads. I'd like to see someone put a mechanical gauge in the drain plug hole to compare numbers. A re-flash could make these problems go away if they just adjust parameters. I honestly don't think it reads accurate tempertures.

That is really odd considering I drove in the same conditions and everything was fine. My work commute is about 30 miles and mostly freeway so I don't know if that helps me over your situation?

Sorry Hack, I wonder if something else is up with your car.

Edit: Regrdless these cars should not be going into limp mode driving regularly on a mid 80 degree day.

I wasn't babying the car, but I wanted to see if I could get it to go into limp mode on the street. It helps having the transmission temperature readout available. I could see the temperature just continue to rise and rise and it kept going up until I started cruising at ~2,000 rpm for a while. I'm going to go back to the dealer and this time they won't be able to tell me that it doesn't count because I was at a track. This time I was on the street. Whether that will matter or not I have no idea, but in my opinion if you can get the car to hit limp on the street there's a problem.

Agreed, good luck. Hopefully you get somewhere with the dealer this time. I haven't had time, but I need to get a computer hooked up to this thing and get some of this stuff coded.
