There were some posts about needing to create a larger metal "Antenna Plane" (I believe it's called...I'm not an RF Engineer) since the dash is made of plastic. I made one out of galvanized sheet metal from home depot. I did it to fix a backwards compass, but, my issue turned out to be the transmission type was wrong in ForScan. Nevertheless, maybe setting the GPS antenna on a larger piece of metal would help.
I did read about about putting foil or or metal under the antenna. I might try that after playing in ForScan. Is the below code the one you changed for transmission type?
7D0-01-02 xx?x xxxx xxxx ? Should be: 8-Automatic Transmission Vehicles, 9-Manual Transmission Vehicles

Yes that is correct. My donor vehicle was an auto, and my car was a manual, so the compass (I didn't buy a NAV ACM) read backwards. If you think the GPS module is bad, I bought one or two different ones to try and troubleshoot my issue. You can have them if you pay for shipping - I think my problem all along was the Forscan code.

I actually have another GPS module that the seller I bought my unit from is sending me, so i'll give that a try if the ForScan stuff doesn't work out. Thanks for the offer, though!

If I have a 2017 ecoboost premium with no hd radio, but has sync 3. If I buy a acm with hd radio, will I need the wiring harness from hextell? Or plug play swap them out.

No interest in nav/sat

I think the "Harness by Hextall" guys (On Facebook) are selling complete setups. They weren't when I was doing it a few months ago, but are now. I'd recommend their kits - fumbling around with the connectors isn't for the squeamish and it takes a lot of time. They are a lot cheaper than 4D as well.

Yes they are and you can reach them here or, as said, on Facebook. I have a kit from them and love it.

So has anyone seen this issue? I swapped my base '17 to SYNC 3 (non NAV). Unit was from Mustang. Everything works great. Used the Hextall harness, new USB hub, ford cables etc. The only thing is this:

When playing music from Slacker Radio, Apple Music or a USB drive - the RH speakers (passenger) are considerably lower volume than the LH (driver's side). Front and rear. Just lower volume, with balance / fade centered / reset. Change the source to the radio and the problem goes away.

Any suggestions?

What mode of listening do you have set, driver only or whole car? That will make a difference.

Whole car. I'll double check I'm assuming that all reverts back after a master reset - which I've tried a few times.

That is really strange. I'm fairly certain the music gets transferred to the ACM in "digital" form, so I can't imagine anything funky going on there. I went that direction though because of how your non-usb inputs sound okay. When you get it figured out, can you post the solution? That's going to be an interesting one!

@HextallS550 is a great guy. I bought just his harness a while back - before he started doing the full kits. He didn't have to but he sent me the SYNC 3 FORSCAN worksheet for my swap and also included the instruction PDF he put together. (Very well done BTW). So I emailed him yesterday about the sound issue. He responded (very quickly) and wanted to see a screenshot of my current FORSCAN settings. I am hoping to be able to do that tonight.

So I verified that the sound wasn't set to DRIVER. Then I did a master reset. Checked again - Whole car was selected like default.

USB drive with music (same one I've used forever) - LH Channel (front and rear) CONSIDERABLY louder than the RH Channel.
Same result for Slacker radio, Apple music from my phone.
Same result from music from my iPhone via Bluetooth.

I wanted to do some basic troubleshooting to see if it might be related to the USB / Media hub I installed during the SYNC 3 swap.

Switch to RADIO input, everything is fine.

Weird. I'm hoping it's not something wrong with the used unit I installed. Guess we'll see. If so I might just use it as motivation to install an amp and upgrade speakers.

Another UNRELATED question about the SYNC 3 swap.

I made the appropriate changes for the toggle switches on the Premium bezel to "work". Hazards, steering mode, traction control, and drive modes. I figured drive modes would "work" but wouldn't really do anything. But unless I'm imagining it - TRACK mode definitely improves throttle response. Been driving it on track mode since the swap and when I switch back to normal - I swear throttle response changes.

Am I imagining it?

Not imagining it, that's the whole point in it! There's also supposed to be adjustment to the steering feel, but you can definitely feel a difference in the throttle response all around. It's basically all I drive in now and since I'm an auto, I notice it tends to hold the RPMs a bit higher too (right when I turn on Track mode it jumps about 500).

I just figured it wouldn't work in reality because the changes have to interact with the ECU (actual engine controller - what changes with a tune) I'm guessing making the changes in FORSCAN actually enable the different throttle modes as well.

I'm in the same boat, I don't see the track mode button doing anything. @Nagare do you see an indication somewhere that you are in different track modes?
