I know I am like 1000 years late on this, but here goes.
I just tried swapping out a complete SYNC system from a 2016 GT350 tech pack into my 2016 GT350 Track pack, The screen came up and worked, but the start button does not function at all. Could my aftermarket harness be bad? Any other suggestions
Also, I noticed I had no AM/FM signal. I am pretty sure that the black Fakra connector with the red ring on it is for the antenna. I did not see any place to plug that in. I could use some advice there.

I appreciate all of the help on 6G, you guys have guided me through most of what I didn't even know was possible. THANKS

If I remember correctly it is part of the security system and you have to reset something in Forscan.

Thank you, I was afraid of that.

How are you testing the infotainment (radio AM/FM signal) if the start button isn't working? There's no other way to put it the car in accessory mode AFAIK.

A fully functional Sync 3 swap is not possible without Forscan. Having a laptop w/Forscan, a temp 2 month license, and a cable are required.

You also will need USB hub HU5Z-19A387-C to use CarPlay or Android Auto as your car is a 2016.

The screen came up when I powered the car back up. I never got a green light on the start buttoon. I have all of the required components including the hub. I thought I would be able to drive the car without updating all of the Forscan stuff. I guess not.

Are you sure the button isn't stuck or damaged?

The screen should not be usable without going into accessory mode. Something else is going on.

Yes I am pretty sure the button is OK. After I put the car back together again ( with all the base parts and 4 inch screen) I assembled it with the 8 inch face plate. The starter button on the 8 inch faceplate worked perfectly. I suspect my wiring may be to blame. I was trying to use a Amazon harness

I could be wrong but I thought you could hit the radio power button and it would fire up your sync system even with no press of the car's ignition button. Similar to 'radio only' mode in older metal keyed systems.

Correct. At least on my 4 inch.

I hadn't heard of this but I decided to give it a try since I have two Fords.

It worked on both, I learned something today. On the Bronco it locks out any vehicle settings in this mode.

OK, so I reinstalled everything again and I still have no starter button. Could I have a wiring issue?I m using a wire harness that I bought off of Amazon. The rest of the components are Ford.
I am ready to use ForScan, but without being able to turn the ignition on, it won't work.
Certainly someone must have encountered this before. Please help! Thanks

Ok, so I got time to work on my car after a couple of track days. I learned that if you buy a wiring harness extension to do this swap, you need to make sure that all of the wires in the plug that goes to the faceplate are populated. My wiring harness was missing 6 wires. I bought the terminals from TE Connectivity, and completed the harness. Once I did that, presto, I could start my car.
In case anyone is wondering, the part numbers are 571-1924955-4 for the female, and 571-1924968-3 for the male. I used 20 gage wire.

Please note, there is no Forescan changes needed to get your car to run, only wiring.

Now I just have to figure out the rest of the Forescan codes. When I turn Sport mode on the exhaust doesn't change. And the exhaust switch on the faceplate doesn't work either. I know there is not an exhaust valve issue, because it still opens when I stomp on it.

I encountered this exact problem and suspected as much, wiring on this one part of the adapter isn't complete. I was able to start with the original connector for that port on the bezel.
