Well I just finished installing another APIM. Double checked all connections turned it on and the APIM / touch screen wouldn't boot. Reseated all the harness connections to the APIM and it booted up. Still has the Lincoln boot screen etc (donor car for the APIM) radio plays fine through all speakers. Sound mode was all seats. Switched to usb drive media, now NO sound to RH speakers just LH speakers. Same symptom over bluetooth via media hub. Switched back to radio - works fine. All connections to ACM look fine - I never unplugged any of them anyway. Contacted @HextallS550 (who's been more than helpful through all this and all I bought from him was the harness) waiting to hear back.

Only question mark at this point is the media hub - which I bought new from Ford. No dealer stocks it anywhere near me. Going to order one today and try it when it gets here - luckily don't have to tear it ALL apart again to see if that does it.

Sounds like a pin is loose in the conversion harness...:(

Shout out again to @HextallS550 he's going to send me out another harness. Swapped media hubs so that's all that's left. And if anyone needs a non NAV APIM send me a PM - I have two of them to sell LOL.

Hello all, I just installed my sync 3 upgrade from base and I need a little bit of help with a couple things. First issue is low volume. I know @Spart posted this:

This is assuming you are keeping the Base ACM.
ACM:
727-01-01 Factory: D800 2800 00, after Sync 3 Swap: 9800 3800 00

But I'm not sure if this applies to me, and there are two digit values in the last that are missing above. My current value at 727-01-01 is 9850 2800 0040...what should it be to get better volume?
The last two characters (in your example, 40) are a checksum and FORScan will automatically calculate them based on what you enter for the other character positions on that line.

I and many others leave them out to avoid confusion. If you had another reason to change a character here or there on that line, I wouldn't want you thinking that the last two digits needed to be a certain value. They have no bearing on anything.

Ya we figured the audio part out and also determined that my drive mode switch on the bezel may be bad as no matter what we did, we could not get drive modes to work.

Just making sure you followed the instructions here to a T:

https://www.mustang6g.com/forums/th...to-base-model-s550.31286/page-65#post-1811217

Note that there are three different ABS module values, depending on what car you have.

Note the position of the character, make sure you're counting positions from the left and not from the right.

Okay so noob of the hour over here::

I do not have the technical know-how nor the acumen to be able to find all these parts to piece everything together as this post explains. ((Detailed and informative though it is.))

So where can your basic car owner reliably get a “plug and play” ((Or near enough)) set up for turing a base 2015 V6 with the 4” screen to the 8” Sync 3 touchscreen? I see packages on google for $1300-$1899 and none of them are very clear on if they really include EVERYTHING necessary to make the change or if I’m going to have to buy the head unit, or the screen, or the backup camera or a half dozen other things separately. And frankly, that’s a heck of a lot of money to spend... ((I had been hoping to keep it in the <$1000 range))

Yes I’m sure a plug and play package is naturally going to end up being more expensive than piecing it all together part by part, but I just don’t have the experience to trust buying a technical part and hoping it’s the right thing and I’m not gonna put the whole thing together only to learn I have to take it back apart and spend another $400 on a different version of the same part. Or that I’ll end up buying from a less than reputable merchant and end up with a cheaply made facsimile of the part that shorts out 6 months in.

This car has been around for three years and is one of the most popular muscle cars out there. I refuse to believe there aren’t plug and play packages for the novice-intermediate car owner.

@Spart checked and everything was set to the letter, must be the switch in the bezel, the other three switched work fine. Not a huge deal, but would be nice to have. I know Hex is looking for another bezel, I told him no rush since I'm not looking forward to taking the dash apart again. Along those lines, a guy was driving buy and stopped and said "how many times are you going to have that thing apart?", I laughed and said I know and it won't be the last time!

Have 2015 with 8" screen and nav. Cost me $800 to collect needed pieces and install. I suspect you could be looking at spending up to $1000 plus at least $100 to install. Install is not trcky for an average mechanic Plug and play and install upwards $2300. PS There is a $140 cable that will allow phone mirroring. That said, the cost of your project most likely is expensive when the age of your vehicle is taken into consideration. Then again at a cost of $100 or so a month for the next 10 years may be worth it. The resale value of a 15 year old car would not be greatly enhanced with the modification.

My understanding is the kits sold by 4dtech.com include everything. However, the less expensive option is to PM the OP of this thread for a quote. He now sells everything you need, including the wiring harness that allows "plug and play" installation. (In the OP it's easy to get bogged down with the instructions for replacing pins, etc. but the harness makes that part unnecessary.) The process still requires programming the car with FORScan software to enable the updated hardware to work on base cars.

That is super helpful. I’ll shoot him a message and see what he’s quoting.

Does he program the APIM? If not then who?
