I thought about waiting, but I don't know if sync 3 is enough to make me wait

As someone who's an audiophile and loves technology I'm disappointed it won't be backward compatible with my 2015 GT. I need some burnout therapy right about now.:headbang:

wow just checked out Sync 3 featured on CNET and some other sites. It really looks impressive and very responsive and user friendly !!

I don't know how many people will wait "solely" for sync3, but some people avoid first year vehicles in general, and they'll get the new sync; and some people are apprehensive or waiting who want to avoid buying late in the model year (like me) for whom the new sync is a bonus.

is sync3 really going to stop anyone here from buying 2015? I mean we don't even 100% know for sure if the mustang will get it on the first 2016's made.

And yeah i agree it's interface is ugly...hopefully they is an option to turn all that white/grey to a dark color.

It shouldn't be to hard to retrofit into the '15 if they keep the controls the same. The only issue will be getting around the vin coding on these. A trip to the dealer for a reflash should solve that though.

The main question is; is it worth the cost??

Of course there are new features on a new car. Things are only new until the next one comes out. If this is something important to you, then wait for it. The new interior, IRS, and fastback profile were important enough for me to wait until '15 to get my Mustang. If the smudge screen turns you on, wait for it. If you're annoyed you can't have it because you already made your purchase, then welcome to planet earth.

The IRS was plenty enough for me to jump into a new stang, but I'm an Electronics/PLC tech by trade, so I can't resist tinkering. That's mainly the reason I went with a stang in the first place, is my modification options are damn near endless. Audio and retrofitting some decent projectors in my heads are high on my to do list.

But that is the beauty of CarPlay and android auto; ever time they update it or you buy a new phone, you get a new car stereo UI. QNX supports those systems and Ford says they are working on it. It is a hard choice for me because I wanted a Mustang early spring, but I also want sync3.

Sounds like the waiting game is the best option for you. What's the saying... Good things come to those who wait... The '15 is a kickass vehicle, and the '16 no doubt will be too. Just remember the words of Lennon...Life is what happens while you're busy making other plans.

We are all so addicted to tech. Me too. I'm a junkie. But seriously. I cannot tell you how little I care about that in this car. It's way more fun driving it than worrying about the onboard computer. (Full disclosure: I specifically DIDN'T want nav because I've got about a dozen different and more accurate ways to get that done.)

I also do not understand why its been so difficult for anyone to make a decent car audio/app system. I have tried some of the aftermarket double din android boxes, and they have been absolutely awful. Just not ready for prime time. They will get it right sooner or later, but i doubt whatever they work out for the 2016 is worth waiting for. For whatever reason, Ford has been behind on tech from the start. (other than the combo door lock. I love that on my f-150, why isnt that everywhere?) Get the car, endure the current version of Sync (its workable once you learn its flaws). And replace the whole thing once they work out the android double din install. It cant be more than a year or two away before they work that out :)

Oh the "joy" of being an over the hill relic/dinosaur. No need or want for the (next) generation of Technology. For those that are consumed with having the (next) cutting edge gizmo, why not what until 2017? There is bound to be an upgrade over the 2016 offering. Myself, I already have enough "sinks" so I don`t need any more SYNC. As far as MFT, I`d rather touch something else! Cheers

CNET does an update review of Sync 3. Looks impressive just the fact that it will now finally have a touch capacitive screen will be so much better....just like our smartphones !!!

No thanks it looks to simple and plain. I love the interface of the SYNC in my 15 and I dont care for those dumb apps I'll never use and the damn pinch to zoom in and out.
