So when my 2016 arrives I will have Sat reception issues? Or is the issue fixed with the late year builds? Or will I have to book an appointment with my dealer for the fix?

The two working frequencies must be relatively close, otherwise there would be significant loss.

Also what's the fix? Different (wider antenna) and duplexers or multi-couplers?

As far as I am aware the 17s are still shipping with the antenna with the issue.. and they replace the antenna..

I am on my third car with sync 2 and MFT. WE love it.

The problem with the media reviews, is they get a few hours, maybe a few days to use the car. The system has a solid 2 week learning curve. But when you get the hang of it, it just works. I couldn't imagine a car without it.

Pe ople who complain about MFT and sync are either slow, or have not taken the time to actually learn the system, or their gear (phones and such) are not updated with latest software and firmware.

I feel that MFT is a good performing system.. I had it in 2012 and it was TERRIBLE.. random shut downs.. and wouldn't even turn on.. shut off in the middle of driving.. but once 3.6 came out.. it was pretty good.. and 3.8 is really good.. I do like the looks of MFT also.. and said many of the same things.. but Sync 3 has grown on me.. it is really responsive.. and the apps work well with it.. plus the Car Play and Android Auto update will really make it nice..

It is a matter of opinion.. but Sync 3 is what they are implementing for the near future.. and depending on what it is you want.. you can make the decision based on those needs and wants

I am not trying to avoid this right now.. I have charged 1299 on the last batch I got.. it depends of what I pay when I get some.. I have 1 coming for Tuesday.. it is a non nav.. Once I get it test it and evaluate the condition I will price it..
Got it. Based on the comment above, I assume you are not buying brand new units? Are you getting them from written off vehicles and such?

Yes.. I get them where ever I can.. A new screen from ford is 1100 and up with a core of $1000 so I don't think anyone would want to do it.. but the ones that I ship with Nav have a brand new from Ford Sync 3 module on them.. Nav units have proven hard to find..

Ok, what exactly is GPSM? People just pretend they know what you are talking about, sometimes. :headbang:
Interesting, I did a search on the internet and could not find one reference to GPSM that had anything to do with global positioning.

I am certainly no expert but I have been involved with the development of RF products in my career and understand the principles around GPS.

First you need an antenna to receive the signals being transmitted by several GPS satellites.

The next thing in the chain is the receiver, it amplifies the signal and processes the encoded information about time and position transmitted by the satellites that is used to determine the position of the receiver. If the antenna and receiver are in different locations they will be interconnected with a coax cable which is needed to ensure extraneous noise is not picked up that could mask the signal.

Now you need a processor that can keep track of the change in position of the receiver, compare it to a calculated set of directions and generate turn by turn directions in the base Sync System or put an icon on a map display with MTF/Sync 3.

Sounds like what I have read in this thread that the base Sync System has a standalone GPS receiver that communicates over the CAN bus to the base Sync module and Sync 3 has the reciever built in and doesn't use the CAN bus.
