You couldn't be more wrong, that is actually Sync 4 you are seeing in that car.

But it's possible in a 2015.

Of course it will ridiculously expensive. I'm certainly don't think it's anywhere near worth it. You will not only need a new MFT computer module but also a screen since it is capacitive touch now. It will easily run you $1,000-2,000 just in parts IF you can even come across those parts aftermarket.

You're WAY better off using a fully aftermarket module like in one of the other threads here http://www.mustang6g.com/forums/showthread.php?t=20642

It's also possible Ford sent them a 2016 spec unit. They sent out aluminum bodied 2014 trucks to fleet buyers for real world testing without the buyers knowing.

I suspect they didn't go out of their way to make it impossible to do the upgrade, but we know that you'll need all the hardware that is Sync 3. No flashing or software upgrade will turn a resistive touch screen into a capacitive one. When 16's ship and people get into this I suspect it won't be terribly difficult, but rather expensive.

From MRT.

Hello Joey

I'd like to take credit for putting a different OS or firmware on the Ford my touch system, but unfortunately I cannot . That is how we received the vehicle from Ford for our SEMA project we did nothing with the sync system as far as recalibrating or uploading new firmware .

If you have any questions please feel free to contact me anytime .

Thank You
Josh Barth
Bummer. I know you can't directly update MFT to Sync 3, but I'll still be on the look for a retrofit solution with new hardware once it's released.

they said the processor hardware is different - much faster. The screen is a capacitive screen to do swiping and pinch to zoom, the 2015 cannot do that

I'll probably look out for wrecked 16 Mustang Premiums with NAV down the road and make the hardware switch if I don't end up getting the GT350.
