Just got a 16 EcoBoost with the 4 inch Sync system.
3rd night with the car, had the sync system hang. While I was going down the road, the screen was black, showing only the time - but was playing the radio. Could not change volume, could not turn off radio, could not activate voice commands - basically the whole Sync system was stuck. Stopped to go into a store, and upon restart, everything was fine.
Is there a way to reset the System while in motion?
In my 16 Edge with Sync 3, when it would fritz - it never hung where I couldn't turn down the radio or mute it, or turn it off -- but I reboot Sync with the car in motion, by holding the power and track advance buttons for 5 seconds or so.
I can't find the equivelent for the earlier sync system.
I am also considering going to an aftermarket radio with wireless apple carplay. The Sync 3 system isn't the greatest carplay system, so I don't want to spend the money on that - but what am I losing by ditching Sync altogether? Doesn't seem like there is that much to the 4" system. and I am just fine with the manual AC/Heat controls. Actually I kinda like just having direct non-temp based controls for the first time in a while.
