I don't think it is worth waiting, but the one reason I would like the QNX system is because it will eventually have CarPlay.

MFT works just fine. It is miles better than the system on my last car (BRZ) so I am ok with it. Screen is plenty big and bright so I am cool. No regrets here.

Keep in mind all of the bugs and growing pains that come with a brand new system across the fleet. Can't say I'm a big fan of BB either...

Being a techie, I am interested in the new features included in the next version of Sync but would in no way let it be a deciding factor for buying a vehicle. I almost always go the aftermarket route anyway.

I have the basic Sync (non-premium/MFT) in my 2015 Mustang and 2010 Escape and they have been working great for me so far after figuring out the quirks while using my Zune / phone. The Escape has a decent Pioneer nav unit and I still got it tied into the Sync system. Sometimes the simplest versions of technology work out best in the end ;).

Ok, so it will definitely suck if us new 2015 Mustang owners miss out on an improved version of Sync, but....
Hey, what's this!?! That's 100% the 2015 Mustang center console. Looks like it's working fine here....

It is a mock Mustang Console. Ford confirmed it is all new hardware so current units are not capable of being upgraded via software. The mock up does suggest the 2016 Mustang will have the new system though. Newer isn't always better in Tech.

Add me to the list who are fine with the one in the car. I wish it would give me direct app (Pandora) control, but thats not a huge deal..

As a tech guy I am not fond of the BB QNX systems. While MS Sync has it's issues on occasion I will take it over the QNX base system. BB has been in
trouble for a couple of years now and could very well be on it's last leg.

QNX was purchased by BB and will do just fine to keep BB afloat. They didn't have anything to do with the development of QNX. QNX has been around a long time and is very very stable.

+1 billion.

I work with QNX daily as well as other OS' for automotive systems and can say that without a doubt QNX is the most stable platform available for the hardware.

QNX is a real RTOS and has strict security controls where the others are lacking.

If RIM goes under, the first thing that would happen is that the assets would be liquidated and someone would purchase QNX (as RIM did, and as Harman did before them) and without other mismanagement they would profit greatly.

I sure hope they make that interface a little prettier before it roles out. It doesn't look modern at all, and while clean it isn't necessarily easier to read or comprehend because of it's lack of flair.

I cannot stand the damn 3D effect they are trying to put on all of the UI elements.... I thought I had finally seen the last of it when iOS 7 and windows 8 were released... Apparently Ford decided otherwise... I still cannot understand why it is so hard for auto makers to make a decent infotainment system when we have sub $200 tablets that have much better interfaces and performance. Can anyone explain this to me?

To me the 2 biggest selling points of Sync3 are:

1. The ability to update over wifi. Just like on my phone or computer, when the developers release bug fixes or new features, you will just get them without having to go to the dealer or mess with firmware procedures. Ford revamps the UI in a year from now; maybe sync3 can install that while I'm asleep.

2. Future support for Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. This is the only way to truly get seamless integration with your phone. With these systems, the phone basically displays its own UI on the screen. I have played with Apple CarPlay for a little while on a pioneer head unit and it is pretty slick. Ford has already said that they are working on CarPlay support, so I don't see why Sync3 wouldn't get the update in the future. This is also pretty much future proof. When apple updates CarPlay, you get all the new goodies.

I am really torn. I want my car ASAP in the spring, but I also would be willing to wait an extra couple months if I could get sync3. If the 2016 rolls out in the Fall like the 2015, I will probably just buy a 2015.

is sync3 really going to stop anyone here from buying 2015? I mean we don't even 100% know for sure if the mustang will get it on the first 2016's made.

And yeah i agree it's interface is ugly...hopefully they is an option to turn all that white/grey to a dark color.
