Stage 1 or stage 2?

Hey guys im looking at whipple and the labor day sales and thinking of pulling the trigger on one this weekend. Cant drcide on which one to go with. Im looking for around 700whp. 2016 gt 6spd. Weekend car and will be driven on the street. Never seen the track. Any benefit's to one or the other. Been looking at beefcake and lethal. Guess id go with the best priced set up that meet my goals. Thanks!

you want a stage 2.

stage 2 includes 72 lb injectors and upgraded 132 mm throttle body. most that throw it on a dyno are at high 600s to 720 whp. on their canned tune (flight control)

suggest upgraded heat exchanger but it's not necessary.

a stage 1 is normally 640-660 whp.

If you want around 700rwhp then you want the Stage 2 for sure. My car put down 725rwhp with the Stage 2 and full exhaust.

It doesn't seem like many people go with the stage 1. I did, but that's because I want to grow into the power down the road. The current power level is enough to keep me on my toes, but it sounds like you would be best served with the stage 2 option.

I guess you are using smaller injectors and standard throttle body? I would love to hear about your setup. I considered doing stage one only. I wonder how the tune and drivability varies from stb to the elliptical one?

Yeah, it reuses the stock TB and uses 56# injectors rather than the 132mm mono blade and 72# injectors. I believe the redline is lower (7200 or 7500 vs 7500 or 7800) as well. The drivability is great and I'm sure the same can be said for the stage 2 setup, as Whipple clearly has the tune figured out.

If you are ever planning on upgrading to the stage 2 just do it from the beginning. I don't think you will reach your 700 hp goal with the stock throttle body. Whipple has the drive ability down with the elliptical throttle body.

IF 700 rwhp is your goal, I'd say go with stage 2. We made 723 on 93 octane with the stock whipple tune and magnaflow cat back as the only HP mods.

I'd also highly recommend doing the Oil pump gear, crank sprocket, and ATI balancer at the same time. Yeah it sucks to spend the extra money on stuff that doesn't exactly make more horse power, but the peace of mind it brings will be well worth it.
