So let me start out by saying this thread is not to slam these guys nor cause a rucus. Their customer service and the product itself have been nothing but top shelf. I'm just trying to decide if I want to stay on this path.

I am about to receive my third TB within a year and within 5,000 miles. The first TB (my stock one built/modified by them) developed a surging/cycling idle with no codes. Car ran and drove great, but the idle became annoying. Mike swapped it out for a brand new one. Now that one has developed an issue that is intolerable. Idle falls on it's face and has to be shut down. Kicks a P2112 (I think...I'll double check) Idle Control Valve stuck closed. Hadve been living with this event randomly for way too long, but yesterday was able to catch the code and confirm the culprit.

So, just contacted them for a way forward. And now I'm curious if I'd just rather go back to stock.

Anyone else having issues with the TB? I've heard of one other buddy (not on the forums) having some issues as well.

I’ve read about the issues over the last couple years. They are a great company and top notch service. However when things like this happen I refer to the old “is the juice worth the squeeze?”. I would say the benefit of their TB does not outweigh the troubles that you have nor does their TB provide enough benefits over the OEM to justify it. However that is something you have to decide. IMO I would be going back to a factory device and be done with it.

Things like this is why I have decided to keep my car completely stock this time. I did consider getting a tune to improve the A10 shifting but will not risk my warranty for that so i’m in a no win situation with the A10s programming.

@2016S550 I completely agree. But, they already contacted me, swapping it out no questions asked, and sent a free shipping label. I’ll give it this one last go because of that. After this, any hint of a hiccup, and it’s off.

P2112 is when the throttle plate (the TB doesn't have an idle control valve) is at an angle smaller (closer to closed) than commanded by the ECU. Stuck closed is one case where that's possible. Could also be a connector/electrical issue.

The first test in the Manual is, with the key "off", to take off the intake duct and move the throttle plate with your fingers to see whether the plate is stuck. If it moves freely from open to closed, then it's probably an electrical problem. If it sticks, then it's mechanical.

I ran a Soler 107mm ported one on my Camaro for about 2 days…thing was absolutely possessed and literally made the car undrivable. I went back to a Katech 103mm and zero issues. I then upgraded to a Katech 112mm and again no issues. Mike @ Soler was great to deal with and he held up his end of the deal, I will say. But ported TBs are hard pass from me. If I need more airflow, I just buy a bigger TB. :)

No mechanical hangups that I could detect, but it has been a very intermittent problem. And sounds like too far closed could be a thing without actually sticking. And then it clears on the next start (albeit it cranks a bit longer on that next start).

But they took it back zero questions asked. Guessing based on past experience, 50/50 shot they find a problem and just send me a new one anyways. Imma give it one more go, and the stock one is going back on if anything else happens.

@galaxy I think it’s fine to give it one last shot. They got mine right. Initially, it had a problem where it stuck closed at the end of a long front straight at the race track. The replacement has been flawless.

What codes did you get? Whatever they do to tweak them, it doesn’t take long at all. When I sent mine back they adjusted it and it was back out the door the same day in just a few hours. Been running great ever since.

Maybe Id better drive mine some more! I had a slightly high idle for about 20 seconds when i started mine up but that could have been normal. I had driven the car that day, but it had sat a couple hours. Drove fine for my 15 mile test trip though.

Did you get WOT during your testing? If not, I recommend doing a few hard pulls in 1st and 2nd to make sure all is well and there’s no sticking open or closed.

I pretty well drove it like i stole it. I got away from the city on a 4 lane divided highway and let her have it.

I had read about the sticking and moved the blade around a good bit before i did the install

I’ve adjusted countless Holley, Q-Jet and Powersport butterfly style throttle blades over the years. It’s a tedious time consuming task to get to perfection. I can see how a few misaligned blade adjustments slip through the cracks and ending up in the consumers hands no matter whose TB it is, be it OEM to Modded.
