Got this notice from my dealer a few minutes ago. They are ensuring that oil filters get tightened.

Interesting...Thanks for posting the letter Jeff!!

As you read through it, shows oil consumption of a quart per 500 miles is possible...
They also want to swap out our Owners Supplement - out of my cold dead hands:lol:

Looks like owners will be mailed the package directly

Specifies build dates between 2/25/15-11/22/16.

That saves me from having to buy a wrench and filter for my first oil change. That is if I don't run up the miles between April and June when they are mailed.

The main issue is that even printing "Must TORQUE xyz amount" ...still doesn't compel Dealership service mechanics to use torque wrenches. Went for my first oil change on my GT350 at 1300 miles to a well known dealer in Northern NJ , by far the most GT350/R allocations in the area...

Still had to come back after noticing leaking when I got home. Luckily the head tech was in the office as I complained, took the keys and came back 15 mins later saying he cleaned it up and torqued it down + topped it off.

So even with a new filter + wrench I have my doubts they will do it right.

I like to disassemble things.
Was in the process of designing a filter socket for GT350 filters so I'm very interested to see this complimentary unit.

It'd be nice if they'd include the recalled oil lines in the box as well.

BIG PROBLEM, YOU MUST BE ABLE TO READ AND UNDERSTAND. Need to put it on there phones as a ringer and demo what a torque wrench is and how to set it. Don't you think the best mechanic is doing oil changes? From what I've experienced nothing you say to the service rep every makes it to the actually mechanic. Don't take your car to Ocala Florida Ford dealer.

What if your car was built after 11/22/2016, say around 12/22/2016?

Maybe that is when they stopped production for the winter, and when it starts again those vehicles will come with the updated supplement and wrench?

does anybody have a pic of this wrench yet? I was fixing to buy one to take to the dealer to get my free 1st oil change. on my 16 they struggled with a strap wrench to get it torqued correctly.

I just bought the off the shelf version at advance auto parts. They are stamped steel and not the best fit in the world, but they work taking off and putting on within torque spec.

You can buy better, but it does the job.
