Hi all, just received my quick fit pro for 2019 gt350. Couple years ago I went to a track day and learned about these belts. I was sliding around hard on the sport seats (should have got the Recaros!)

At that time they didn't fit the 2019 belt clip size. I just randomly thought about this the other day and checked if they had been updated. They had, so I impulsively ordered one.

I got the pro model without realizing there was a standard. The pro seems to support HANS devices, but don't think at the moment I'll need that.

Did I make a mistake getting the pro? I watched am HMS motorsport video on them and it seems ill need to mount a couple of the brackets in the car. That is OK, but if I didn't have to, that might be better.

Anyone have the regular?

Congrats on the new purchase. To answer you question, no you didn’t make a mistake. I’ve had the regular and the pro. As you do more track days, you may want to get a HANS device and fortunately for you, your harness will already be able to accommodate it. Just use what you have and enjoy and be safe!
I personally would recommend a HANS device either way. Safety isn’t based on experience.

also you shouldn’t need any additional brackets as it bolts into the seat buckles. The only time you’ll need a bracket is if you add the sub belt

The difference between the pro and regular is the type of buckle release. No difference in the way the harness is attached to the car
The pro has a much better release so you got the right one
Also The pro release buckle has a provision for an anti- submarine strap

Not correct. 2 brackets need to be attached to the car. 1 at the rear outboard seat belt location and the other one at the driver outboard belt location

Hmm did they change the design?
I could’ve sworn it was a simple unbolt the rear seat belt and slip the attachment through and same with the lap belt on the outboard location

Yea, from what I've been seeing tonight I'll need to install 2 brackets (that it comes with) to the left side interior of both the front and rear. Need to remove the rear seat and interior panels. Seems like some modification to one of the panels is probably needed. I also thought they just clipped in! I'm most concerned about having to cut anything.. regular mounting doesn't bother me though.

Found this video showing a shelby install (albeit missing some important details):

Will teach me to order things after a few drinks on Thanksgiving without doing any research!

Glad to hear the pro is the recommended model. I am excited to get it setup, honestly since my last track time in the sport sears and stock belts I was getting frustrated at having to fight so much to be able to stay in position to drive the car at speed.

Hope this helps some!

Is this the bracket you are referring to?

Correct. 1 of them
Isn’t that included?

I’ve always bought a quick fit used so that was included. I would hate to think they would sell the harness without those two parts.

I think that there is some confusion, yes the brackets to which the receiving buckles are attached are part of the harness kit but they still need to be bolted to the car and 1 trim panel need some slight modification

Ahh yes you are correct. I read the post too fast and thought OP said they had to get(buy) brackets. My apologies.

Well, I'm a bit alarmed here - nobody has really responded to your HANS question. The answer is "never run a harness without a HANS". Never! Even a low-speed accident caused by a mechanical problem or another driver can paralyze you or kill you if you wear a harness without a HANS.

Your factory belts are designed so that, in a frontal crash, your upper body and head can pitch forward together to meet the expanding airbag. The airbag expands to cover your head and chest and it keeps you from pitching too far forward.

A harness doesn't work that way. Any harness, Quick Fit or not, will not allow your upper body to pitch far enough forward to make contact with the airbag. The harness stops your chest and shoulders but your head keeps moving, putting massive strain on your neck. A HANS connects your head to the harness, keeping the strain off your neck and reducing the risk of a life-altering spine injury.

Simpson Hybrid S can be had for around 1K. Works both with harness and factory 3 point.

Is a roll cage needed ? No but it’s extra insurance
Same with a hans
And btw, frontal crash on a race track ( not talking professional standing start) are extremely rare
Most crash are sideways, going off or hitting a barrier, etc
Obviously as your skills and speed increase, so should your protection level

My understanding is that the Schroth harnesses have features that allow them to be used safely without a HANS. They use the OEM harness attachment points that tighten when the car senses a crash, and they are also built with stretch so they allow your upper body to move a little, reducing shock to your neck. And the airbag is still there as well as a supplement to reduce the strain on your neck in a crash.

There are videos on the Schroth website going over these features.

However, I agree that a HANS is preferable as I prefer belt and suspenders when it comes to safety on track. I got rid of my Quick Fit and purchased a Quick Fit Pro because I believe a HANS is a must for track use. There are too many things that can go wrong from someone else's mistake to equipment failure, etc.
