I'm was in the same boat as you, I'm 19 and I was in an older lexus saving for my GT a couple of months ago. Paid for mine in cash thinking I wouldn't have to pay much monthly but gas and insurance really adds up even though I was only going to school and work. I love the car so much, I wouldn't trade it for anything the only thing that sucks is the milage but smiles per gallon over miles per gallon. I'd say keep the ecobeast for now and see how your financial situation is after your first year of college. If you can afford it and still live pretty comfortably without having a bunch of loans then go for it. You don't want to be buried in student loans and debt.

I hope my son does the same when he becomes a teenager. Congrats to you for working hard for what you want and love. Those things that Ive worked for were much more appreciated than things that were just given to me. I would personally save for a GT. The fact that you have no payments right now says a lot. Most people my age would love to be in your position. Now for the real question. Trading in the the EB for the GT. I say HELL YES, but only when you feel it is the right time. I drove the EB before I bought the GT. The EB is nice and all, however I enjoy the power of the GT. The 10SPD really impressed me as well. I test drove the 6SPD manny and absolutely nothing for me, the difference is night and day. Was never an auto transmission type of guy, till i test drove the 10SPD. Anyway whatever you decide, I am sure you will be happy with your choice. College is a bit pricey I will say that. However, it is an investment in yourself that could never be taken away. And college would be the primary thing I would focus on. Sell the EB, save the money, buy a cheap jalopy beater, save for the GT is what I would tell my son If he gets to that point. Either way good luck to you and keep up the good grades!

Hello all, I’m 16 and a mustang lover like all of you guys and I’ve got a 2018 eco. Premium with the black accent package. I drive it every day and it’s paid off so no issues there and it’s got 15k ish miles so far. I go to school and work pretty much all night after school most days and I’ve got a good chunk of money saved. Won’t get into exact numbers but it’s 5 grand plus on top of a decent amount of spending money. I have a job this year making like 500 ish dollars a month and I will work full time over the summer and make 4-5k ish. I love saving for concrete things because it helps motivate me to work harder. I’ve got the idea in my head of saving up and trading in my eco along with some cash and scooping a gen 3 coyote with 15-30k miles before the s650 comes out. Should I trade in for the GT or should I just hold onto the eco? Also, I’ve got college coming up but I’ve scored well enough on tests to get my instate cost down to about 10k a year which thankfully my parents are willing to help me with. Also FYI, I’m not trying to be ungrateful I’m just a massive mustang enthusiast and have been for all of my life so a mustang GT is sort of the ultimate dream car to me so the fact that it is even a theoretical possibility for me is surreal. Thanks so much and please keep all hate away
I am in my 70’s and got my first Mustang 2007 ECO! Wish I would not have waited +50 years! Go for your dream! And congratulations on persuing success.

Dude keep it for now! I got my first mustang when I was 18 in highschool (was an 2018 ecoboost) and I loved it. I traded it for a 2019 GT when I turned 19... here I am about to turn 20 and now Im planning to take it to aldo in houston for a TT. 16 Is too young for a GT in my experience, but if youve got money to pay for the insurance i say go for it.

buying a non V8 mustang... wtf?

apply also for camaros, chargers, challengers, etc...
Well a 460 horsepower v8 that gets 12 mpg isn’t always practical for everybody, would I rather have a gt? Yes of course but I’m perfectly fine with having an eco as a 16 year old, it’s a lot more practical and I get like 26 mpg. I also don’t have to worry about driving it in the winter and in bad weather because the car has a lot less power. I understand your point but not everybody is in the same Position in life and people need different things

You need to get out of that mindset right quick.

Yeah...
Any car slides, doesn’t matter 1hp or 1000hp.
I had a 15 eb I hated in winter, total death trap imo. I have a 17 now and it’s a garage queen for winter now on

I do not like rwd for winter.

No I know it’s not the best I’m not arguing that, but I drove it every day through the winter with the exception of a couple days when I was off the roads anyways for super heavy storms and didn’t have any issues. I worded it badly but it’s definitely more easier to drive an eco through the winter than a GT was my point

Also, I am not a total idiot and I drive on winter tires and always drive carefully. I worded that very poorly and trust me I’m not saying it’s easy or even smart... but i would definitely feel more comfortable in a eco. Maybe I’m wrong but idk

Over the years, I have observed that most of the winter driving issues occur when trying to stop, not when trying to go. It doesn't matter what engine or vehicle you have, or what wheels are driven, it takes 4 wheels to stop. Just get the right wheels and tires. I swear, every winter I see some idiot in a big SUV with half worn all-season tires slide through a stop sign or light and take out at least one or two other vehicles.

Years ago, I drove one awful winter with a 94 Viper... it was my daily driver.
