Although a DCT would be phenomenal this car will most likely get the Ford/GM 10 speed. There is a lot of chatter about the ZL1 having this transmission in it as well. We will find out on 3/25/2016.

I'd be shocked if this were true. That would be one short and strange platform life. So 2015-2019 with a mostly redesigned platform and only one S550 HiPo version with an engine they wont put in any other car. That would also put any GT500 at 2021 earliest since they won't be coming out with it on the first model year of any new platform and that leaves them without any true straight line competitor for..... 5years?
""Program code for the next‐generation Mustang (S550(ng)) has been changed to S650 and the SOP has been shifted back from January 2022 to May 2020." :eyebulge: shocked yet? LoL!

Not really. In your post you said the S550 will end with the 2019 Mustang. This document says the new generation would start as a 2021 Mustang which seems much more likely.

It is completely silent on whether we would see a GT500. Actually, the fact that the S550 will go all the way to 2020 model year makes it even more likely we'll see a GT500 in the S550's life and less likely that your scenario will play out. There is no way Ford is going to wait until 2022 MY (a year after the intro of the new gen apparently) to offer its straight line/HP focused performer. Also less likely that the GT350 will run 2 more years to "close out" the S550 as you wrote.

You dont have to wait too long for a GT500. Check out the add for the Raffle for a 2016 GT500 on page 60 of the March 7,2016 issue of Autoweek magazine. The drawing for the 2016 GT500 will be held on April 22,2016 !

Crazy world we live in today with the possibility of 700ish HP FACTORY car coming out. Well for around 60k I would assume.

As a guy who just paid 58k for a gt350 tech, I'm assuming mid 70's for the gt500.

I'd say it depends on what ford brings. There is a reason for the splined hubs. If the car has an awd feature consider that tech st least another 10k. The GTR is over 100 but your can find them for around 85k.

My opinion is supercharged. I would love twin turbo, but I guess supercharged.

Dodge already has that covered with the 2 Hellcat cars. The HC Challenger and the HC Charger. Both with 707HP and 650lbs. of TQ. (Actually it seems that's "underrated" as most dynos will show the car is putting out more power than that. But, that is debatable. lol)

But, yes.....I would love a brand new GT500 to take the top spot over the Hellcat as far as power/torque numbers and quarter mile times.
Please Ford, make it a supercharged V8 with gobs of horsepower and gobs of torque. Thank you. :D

Agreed on all points except the FI tech. Twin turbo please.

I'd bet on never seeing supercharged Ford ever again.

Ford has gone all in on the EcoBoost. The easy bet is on a turbo V8.

I hope so, and either a DCT or auto option. For those who like to drag race, it is essential.

Whilst it's very true Ford are pushing EcoBoost, I believe all their EB engines have been built from scratch.....they haven't added turbos to an existing engine.

So, whilst I'd love to see a small capacity Ecoboost V8, my money would be on a supercharged version of the Coyote.

Save the EB V8 for the 7th gen car :)
