Sir, this is a forum. . . you are strictly forbidden from admitting you made an error!! You must instead dig your heals in and resort to name calling!!

Truth be told, I know I read that somewhere also. Just like you, it could have been marketing material and others perceptions.
I know, how dare I admit to such a thing! We aren't the only ones that have seen/read/heard it. On other drain plug threads there were others too like us. We aren't alone.

I had the Ronin drain plug and went back to the OEM. The Ronin would always leak. Not enough to get on the garage floor but always all over the oil pan. Drove me crazy. Looked and felt like a nice quality product. Just didn’t work for me.

I had one as well. Cap came off on track. Went back OEM because there's no use in constantly replacing something that can't stay on.

It’s funny, just 5 minutes ago I got another response from customer service saying of the thousands they’ve sold, I’m one of only three people they know of who’ve lost a cap. Sounds like there’s at least 4 just on this one thread.

You may consider sending customer service a note. I bet they’ll send you an entirely new unit for free…. Which you could install or sell. Just sayin.

Edit: I wonder if simply wrapping tape around it would keep it from backing out? I plan to safety wire mine, but tape would certainly be faster.

I'm betting Voodoo vibration might be the cause for the folks here losing the caps....

I've never seen an issue with the Ronin on my F150.

Form-A-Funnels work very well, but if you happen to have a 3D printer and are proficient in 3D CAD, you could whip out something like this:

funnel.jpg

I got wind of these a while back here on the board, and originally the seller had them listed for the '18-'20 cars. I inquired about it fitting a '15-'17 and he had no idea if it would, but offered to send me one if I would verify fit on my '15 so he could expand his fitment range; he did and it fit like a glove (with the big FP filters also) and works better than any of my Form-A-Funnels since it stays in place while you flounder around with the filter. No mess, and I'm usually a master of fouling my shop floor with oil change dribbles.

I have no idea if the filter to frame relationship is anywhere close to the same on a GT350 but it might be worth a shot to contact him.
Unfortunately that funnel doesn’t work for the 350 due to orientation of the oil filter housing, and castings in the block… so I made this.

Per manual the drain plug ($10) is a single use item. Any valve type plug pays for itself in 5 or 6 oil changes. The valves are also much more controlled and make changing a TON easier. Valves also have magnetic ends to help pull contaminants to the bottom of the pan and drain them. And if we go further, over time (likely longer than the life of the car) the pan itself with wear from factory plugs being used. A valve stays in the pan so no wear at all. The design of the Ronin isn't compromised by missing the cap either.
I bought 20+ plugs at 2 something a piece from rock auto a few years ago. 10 bucks a piece? I’m sure I’ve seen OEM ones still cheaper than that online.
