I've got right about 500 miles on it at this point. I have jaeger bros rock guards on the front.

I took it through a canyon last weekend not long after it rained, this turned out to not be a good idea because mud and rocks were on the road from running water.

I'd go over the mud and it would sound awful, like rocks spraying on the car.

Eventually I stopped and inspected the car, didn't see anything. Was impressed with the rock guards.

Anyways, today was looking at it with a friend and we saw a whole bunch of mini chips next to the rear plate. How would these get here? Haven't heard anyone advocate PPF on the rear really, is this a common spot?

More surprised than anything..

Are you sure they are chips in the clear coat and not some sort of road debris like tar or paint stuck on the paint?

Anyone weed whack or run a lawn mower behind your car?
Hmm, don't think so, I do have a gardener but I don't believe the car has ever been out while he was there.. but yea it does seem like maybe something like that could be a reason. I cant think of any time where I might have overlapped with landscaping.

I'm assuming chips on this area isn't a normal thing then? Unless rocks came up from under the car (and back some) not sure how else they would've happened. So strange.

I don't have any on mine. I have about 660 miles on mine now. It has seen a few patches of gravel and your typical junk on the road.

Zero rock chips on mine there in 4K miles. It’s from something else.

Then if those are all chips they are not from road gravel in that area. I'm not sure even a weed eater could do that much damage and affect only that one area. None on mine in 8,000 miles.

I have 20k miles on mine, over 12k of which are hard track miles. I don't have a single chip on that part. Definitely can't imagine how that's from driving unless you're doing burnouts in gravel next to a concrete wall or trampoline.

Are you sure those were not there when you bought the car? Could have happened while on the transport truck if it was facing backward.

Yea pretty sure, I went over the car when it arrived more than once. I feel like they must have shown up in just the last week or so. No idea where they could have come from though, car isn't left out in the open much at all. It was backwards on the truck, but on the bottom. Also, no chips like that on the front from actual driving so far. Bummer :/

2017 GT350 now gone to a great home.
It will remain a mystery. Anything on it behind the license plate? That might help narrow it down to transport damage or not.

I was looking at it some more today.. I've been running the gurney flap on the car, and this is a 2019 so it's got the newer swing setup. It sure seems like these chips are lined up with the bottom aero openings.

Also, there does look to be some on the other side as well, but not as much. Also, seems to be some similar chips in the aero black bits. I'm wondering if the aero changes are part of it. I'll take some more pics soon.
