Weight loss is pretty expensive route to go if your goal is straight line speed. Its a good thing if overall performance is your goal because it helps the tires perform in general, so cornering and braking get better too.

< $50 a pound isnt too bad, there are a few things in that range. $100 and more per lb gets kinda rough. Wheels are unsprung AND rotating, so they’re a good place to look if you can keep the price per pound low enough. Driveshaft is rotating but not the kind of benefits that the wheels get because while its rotating, its moment of interia is still pretty compact around its center.

OTOH, a +200hp blower can get you more straight line speed than a *infinite* budget for lighter parts with stock power.

Anyway, if you line up the price per pound and then sort your mods by that, you can pick the best choices.

Too bad seats and rear seat delete are off the list, those (and carbon fiber doors) are some of the best ways to loose weight. If you delete the radio, speakers and AC thats basically free weight loss.

Anyway, lightening is a really expensive way to go.
All of this is a exactly right. Only thing to add. OP, you have mag ride. DO NOT go LiPo. 9 time out of 10, our cars reject those batteries. It's something to do with the BMS in the car vs the BMS in the battery.

I went through it, as have tons of other folks with mag ride cars. It's an easy expensive mistake.

An Antigravity battery saves lots of weight up front for not too much money.

Grab titanium lug nuts with the light wheels to remove more rotating mass.

Lighter front and rear crash bar, I went BMR on this.

Rear seat delete, remove seat belts too.

MMR billet water pump pulley, Steeda billet idler pulleys.

Carbon fiber driveshaft.

Losing weight without removing interior is tough. You can reduce ~70-ish lbs by removing rear seats. I was down to 3636 before I started adding aero.

All that crap in the trunk will save 7 lbs or so.

I installed a Li battery and saved ~20 lbs there. I 3D printed a CF battery holder that weighs 170 grams.

As others have said there is huge gains in brakes and wheels.

I went to a Carbon Fiber seat and saved ~110 lbs for both sides.

There’s a support that GT-350’s don’t have behind the front wheels that will save you 10 lbs.

Adding power will overcome weight but in the words of the late great Colin Chapman “Adding power makes you faster on the straights. Subtracting weight makes you faster everywhere. Simplify, then add lightness.”

How much weight do you lose with a carbon fiber driveshaft and does it increase your rear wheel horsepower?

Cut out all that spare plastic in the original battery box, you lose a shade over a pound. If you are going for grams and whatnot...

For? Knock on wood, mine has never been questioned. My battery is in the trunk though for other reasons. But even when I had my LiPo in front, never had an issue.

These cars definitely need to go on a diet. Little things I did to lose some weight for the track was everything comes out of the trunk including the speaker, rear seats are gone, around 32 pounds, I don’t drive it in the rain so windshield wiper fluid is gone and also the windshield wipers, a braille battery lost about 14 pounds, project six GR wheels lost about 38 pounds. I would say close to 100 pounds!
which braille model did you get and how has it been holding up?

I gotta slim down my Mach 1. I already swapped out the factory hood for a carbon fiber replacement. But now I need to go to the next level. I'm thinking Lightweight Series Velgen wheels, DBA two-piece brake rotors and QA1 carbon fiber driveshaft. I cannot delete the rear seats and my standard front seats are too comfy to change as well.

Absolutely need to lose weight:

-22lbs Giro 2-piece Front Rotors
-8.4lbs Giro 2-piece Rear Rotors
-12lbs Kooks Headers
-9lbs Kooks x-pipe
-18lbs Kooks 3” ss exhaust
-32lbs Apex 11 x 19 wheels
-8lbs Front Bumper bar
+3lbs Ford Motorsport tow hooks
+2lbs Gorilla wheel lug nuts
-40lbs Rear Seat Delete
-34lbs Front Seats Recaro (non-OEM)
-7lbs Trunk spare components
-10lbs Misc plastic panels
-195.4lbs = 35hp gain approx

Watson Trunk Battery mount kit, shifts 35lbs to right rear.

They are very good batteries and hold up well. I had 15 on a Shelby GT/SC and on my 350R and Mach1 I use an18. I do keep it on a battery tender though.

Many organizations require the battery to be in an enclosed space. Some are more relaxed as it’s an antiquated practice.
