I drove over some serious potholes couple days ago (thanks to the CA rain storms), and I was worried my passenger side rims were damaged. I'm glad these are some sturdy rims. Nicely done Ford Performance! 👍
A buddy's wife hit a pothole here in CO last week in their new Tesla. Two flat tires and two broken rims.

Yikes. Don’t wish that anyone, but Teslas are soulless tin cans. Shout out to Ford Performance once again for these awesome wheels.

Or step up to Apex Forged wheels and drop a few more lbs.

Just got the Apex EC-7's 11" with 305/30/19 all round - on the HP. A lot lighter than the Ford OEM

Pics? I keep going back and forth on them. Pretty sure I rather be 305/30/19 all around as well. Wont really lose any perf from the 315/30/19 anyway.

Here's the pic. One shows the FP wheels next to the Apex for comparison.

They look good! How do you like them so far?
The clearance between the top of the tire and the shock is 5mm. So I was concerned that it is too close with tire flex. But the wheel alignment center and APEX said it would be fine and 5mm is plenty. It's been wet here so I haven't had a chance to try them on the track yet(I have GY Eagle Supercar F1 - dry on them). Hopefully by the end of this month I'll get to try them.

Tried the Apex wheels out last week. They worked out quite fine. It was cold so in the beginning stages a bit cautious but as they heated up they performed much better. The clearance was good. Found no scrapping or scuffs anywhere in the inside front wheel well. So all good.

Ian, they look good! Mine should be here in a week or so. How did the Garmin perform?

Garmin Catalyst was great. I never got the car speaker to link while driving so I couldn't turn up the volume. But got me some earphones so I can hear the 'advises' from the device next time. I'll also play with car speaker set-up. Reviewing the data is impressive and everything the reviews claim. Well worth it. I got the cage as well for added stability. I thought by sucking it to the windshield would obscure my view but it did not.

I just bought a 2022 handling package also, same car different color. Now that you’ve had a year or more in the car what do you think was your best purchase and worst purchase?
What would you do different?
My car is fully stock now.
I’m dying to get it on a road course.
I’m trying to look at the car as a whole and figure out what if anything would be the best upgrade/changes.
I’m thinking wheels would be possibly the best upgrade.
Also thought about superchargers, turbochargers, nitrous, etc.
I think I wanna keep the fuel 93 pump gas. I don’t like the idea of having to deal with trying to find fuel and pay a lot more along with decreased fuel economy that we would go with going to more corn in the tank.
I enjoy it as a daily driver mainly but definitely want to do some road course time.
Mine has the stock Recaro seats.
Also thought about rear seat delete. Wondering how that would affect sound inside the car, including my much upgraded aftermarket stereo..
What are your thoughts about break changes and possibly going to larger calipers and rotors in the rear?
Keeping the stock 10 1/2 305-30/19 Michelin ps4s wheels and tires upfront and 11 315/30-19 in the rear versus going squared?
Thoughts on going to 18 inch wheels for lighter weight and greater choices in tires and I’m assuming lower cost tires also?
Any and all experience and wisdom is appreciated..

Thank you.

Have you done any track days before? If not, then leave the car alone and start getting experience. Use Fords track day settings for tires and alignment. As you get better and faster, you'll start to know what the car needs for your style. The Mach is a very capable road race car as is and will flat out amaze you. You'll need experience and maybe training to really reach its limits in a controlled, fast drive.

Save your money for those $350 - $500 track days (plus track day insurance... right?) and take good care of the car in maintaining brakes, tires and suspension.

If I was gonna do one thing to better any track day, I'd replace the brake fluid with a high quality high temp racing fluid. Stock fluid can boil water into vapor really quickly.

Then again, if you have lots of money and are just looking to do mods, then plenty of guys will post up answers to your questions above. But you'll never know if the mods performed the way you need on the track.

I am no seasoned track 'racer' and would only classify myself as intermediate and only have 17 track days in my Mach1 but will give you my thoughts of my journey so far. Boyd has great advise. So take mine based on my limited experience.

I always had an issue taking my track tires as you can't fit all 4 in the car (with roll bar). So I ended up driving hundreds on miles on the track wheels (hoping that it would not rain) and had 2 spare in the back. I went 305 square because of that, but I prefer 325 at the rear.
I purchased the Apex rims because they are a lot lighter and installed the Watson roll bar and 4 point race harness. I think the harness is a must if you are going to track your car. If you install the rollbar this means you need to take out the rear seats and yes, it is louder even with the rear seat delete blank. If you don't want to take the back seats out and have no roll bar, then you can purchase the Schroth Quick Fit Pro. I have this in my Shelby and works great.

The rest of the mods I did is under my signature. So far these are limited mods and agree with Boyd. My mods will grow as my budget and skills grow. If you know tracking is for you and you going to do it often, then you'll decide what is important to you.

I also want more power but I am not going to install a supercharger. Apparently the Mach1 is well balanced for the track and putting a supercharger on unbalances the car for track purposes. Another person told me he blew his engine with a supercharger on. With my research I did, the Mach1 5L engine is not designed for a supercharger. The GT500 has a 5.2L and stronger designed pistons etc to handle a supercharger. But I am no expert and I am sure there are many with supercharges on and on the track with no issues. It would be great to hear from them.
After all that, I decided to get me a car trailer. Now I keep the long miles off my Mach1 and have enough spare wheels for the track.

Happy with my ForgedLite MC5's. 10lbs lighter than the HP birdnest, can be made in any diameter, width, offset you want ( I chose the GT350 R fitment - Fronts are 19x11 +24, rears are 19X11.5 +56). in conjuction with 2 piece rotors, I lost 17lbs of unsprung weight off of each front assembly. Yes, you can feel the difference.
