In addition to "save the manuals" we need a T-shirt that reads "No" - The most important word in the English language and should be applied liberally from age 2 and up.
You ain’t kidding there. My son’s first word was No, so you know how we operate in our house 🤣. My wife and I are told regularly that we say No more than their friends parents do. Our response is always the same: Good, that means we’re doing our jobs. Our job isn’t to say Yes all the time.

Thanks for the read. Took me back to the days when I would sink into a Super Street mag & just drift off into day dream land.
I aspire to build a family car like that when its time, even if it aint a Lesbaru

Modern (western) life is entirely too easy. War, pestilence, and privation are a nifty means of focusing attention on survival and dispensing with the kind of "idle thoughts" that lead to the rapidly escalating ruination.

I live for Save the Manuals, rather drive this than own an automatic

My Dad’s favorite quote was…,”Try that out and let me know how it goes for ya“.

There are 2 lessons that everyone should learn from this:

1) Get a radar detector. I use a Uniden R7 and it's freaking brilliant! It has saved my butt so many times, it has paid for itself 10 times over. My other Mustang is a 2013 Shelby GT500 with > 700rwhp and it idles at 80mph! I live in the south and cops love to hide around corners with their radar guns blaring. I know that they are there way before they know that I am.

2) Never EVER go to court without a lawyer. The lawyer will get your ticket reduced or dismissed. The latter happens when the officer fails to appear in court, since we, by law, have a right to face our accuser.

I learned my lesson in 1995 when I got a ticket for having an expired insurance card. I went to court, presented the insurance card that showed that I had insurance the whole time, but instead of dismissing the charge like the judge should have, he fined me $1 + court costs. I thought "No big deal" and went home. I got a letter from the state a few weeks later that said that I now had to carry 3 YEARS of high risk car insurance because I was found guilty of not having insurance! That bad decision cost me thousands of dollars over the 3 year period. Hiring a lawyer to represent you in court usually costs around $75.

Never, ever, ever, NEVER go to court without a lawyer.
You were right about hiring a lawyer. They really do know how to point out some important details.
I had one case when hiring a lawyer was crucial for me coz I just ran into some scammers. I got a new car back then and accidentally hit a small part of the fence in my neighborhood. One dude wanted to charge me a lot for damaging the fence. But my lawyer demanded that he needs to prove that the fence belonged to that idiot. I didn't know why my lawyer took that direction. But later, he explained that he had a strong feeling that the guy was lying. He asked a lot of money for some shitty fence. Turns out that guy had nothing to do with that property, and then he just couldn't provide any proof that he was a landlord or even a tenant at that house. I still have no idea how he appeared there and what this guy was doing there.

Around here rush hour gets speeds up to and over 90 Mph. Never see law enforcement unless they are cleaning up a wreck.

Non-rush hour traffic usually runs 70 to 80. Speed traps are everywhere.

Wow, how do you get higher rush hour speeds than non-rush? Rush hour around here you’ll be lucky to get over 30mph on the major interstates and tollways. Non-rush and especially weekend mornings some of those roads get to be like NASCAR around here.

Same here. Unless there’s some kind of accident on the highways that I use if you’re going 80 or 85 you’re being passed like you’re standing still. And 100 every morning is not out of the question.

I mean if it was actually written for 141 in a 70 you're still fucked even if they don't arrest you and impound your car (which just adds to the cost). That's well above what most traffic lawyers can grease palms over, lol.

Insurance underwriting usually dings you harder for more severe violations, and especially racing/reckless tickets. That stuff will make your rates go up 100% these days.
It's been nearly two years since then, and my insurance has only gone up $300. I'd say it was well worth the experience!

Agree with both, will be getting a uniden r3 since it's so cheap. But the cop hit me with lidar so wouldn't have helped anyways I think. Also where did you find a lawyer for 75 bucks lol, mine was 1000
I knew a cop when I lived in NOVA and he told me they were changing over to mostly LIDAR. Also, unless the laws have changed since I moved, RADAR detectors are illegal in VA.

Only if you get caught with it
