CO has similar speed laws. A lot of variables go into any one situation, and, jail time is not automatic. YMMV.

My Mustang is the only car i havent tapped out , but one day i will and i will do it on a lonely isolated nice flat road and it will feel great and the 155 it will reach is nowhere near how fast ive been . Ive done the " Mad Max " experience in my heavily modified almost 6l SS east of Broken Hill NSW where i did BH to Cobar in 2 hours , nuff said " I am the Nightrider. I would like to recommend the VIR long course or even the Mid-Ohio track. Totally legal, totally awesome pushing the car to the limit. Of course push yourself to the limit as well, but at the end of the Mid-Ohio downhill straight you can even lift late if you wish and enjoy the sand trap. But I can tell you that the thrill of barely making the curve at the bottom is thrill enough.

What I liked about track days is you are all going the same way, they move immobile objects (like telephone poles) away from the track, you don't have to pay a ticket, wear handcuffs, nor spend a night in jail.) BTW....a track day fee will cost you less than a ticket and a lawyer at those speeds.

Oh yes...there are folks on this site who can make other recommendations of FAST tracks. I can only attest to the two at this point. Anyway, once you get on a track you'll realize "fast" is not all it's cracked up to be, for most likely you'll be hooked on negotiating corners as well.

That's exactly what's going on in some of the larger cities in the US. The thought process being it's more dangerous to chase in high traffic areas and the risk of crashing or injury are greater than catching the criminal.

I'm not sure what side of this I fall on, probably somewhere in the middle. If you're trying to pull over a speeder in rush hour and they run, probably not worth it. If you're chasing a alleged murderer, probably worth continuing to pursue.

But this takes individual reasoning to work and laws are created for the lowest denominator of society.

Well VIR is about 15,800 kilometers from Cobar so I don't think he'll be hitting up VIR anytime soon . Perhaps he can make a pilgrimage to Bathurst. (I suppose that was for OP not Brisvegas)

Simple question- If you can’t understand a road sign how can you logically get a driver license?

You'd be amazed then about how many truck drivers have 0 English ability reading or speaking driving around our great nation!

We've all been there. I remember when I got my first car, and I also wanted to show off my driving skills in front of my GF. I've got my first ticket for exceeding the speed limit and almost hitting another car. Well, gladly, I survived. But I've also learned my lesson.

It's the 85/15 rule... 85% do it & 15% lie about it... even LEOs.

There are 2 lessons that everyone should learn from this:

1) Get a radar detector. I use a Uniden R7 and it's freaking brilliant! It has saved my butt so many times, it has paid for itself 10 times over. My other Mustang is a 2013 Shelby GT500 with > 700rwhp and it idles at 80mph! I live in the south and cops love to hide around corners with their radar guns blaring. I know that they are there way before they know that I am.

2) Never EVER go to court without a lawyer. The lawyer will get your ticket reduced or dismissed. The latter happens when the officer fails to appear in court, since we, by law, have a right to face our accuser.

I learned my lesson in 1995 when I got a ticket for having an expired insurance card. I went to court, presented the insurance card that showed that I had insurance the whole time, but instead of dismissing the charge like the judge should have, he fined me $1 + court costs. I thought "No big deal" and went home. I got a letter from the state a few weeks later that said that I now had to carry 3 YEARS of high risk car insurance because I was found guilty of not having insurance! That bad decision cost me thousands of dollars over the 3 year period. Hiring a lawyer to represent you in court usually costs around $75.

Never, ever, ever, NEVER go to court without a lawyer.

I don't know how many times it has to said, but if you want to stretch the legs of your Mustang, do it at a local track...assuming that you have one. Sure, it's not cheap, but will be much more so than what could happen on the road. Realistically, there are many more unpredictable variables on the road than on the track.

This, but sadly Virginia outlaws radar detectors. I also have the Uniden R7 and, like my side arm, I never leave home without. I have a right to know when the government is surveilling me without a warrant.
Just remember, every game has its prize. Be conscious of what you want to win.

Then you're doing it wrong. Find an unlit 2 lane that has tight curves every 8-10 seconds and missing guard rails or a 6ft drop into a creek and blitz those roads at 1 am.

Yep top speed gets boring eventually. My friend and I actually do do that near rock creek parkway in DC. I'll bring my gopro next time

No we haven't all been there. Some of us just lack the responsibility and don't understand that most women don't give a crap about how fast our cars go. Using young age as an excuse to committing crimes is what's wrong with the current generation.
