Wanted to hear from people that have used meth injection on there set up. I plan on running and edlebrook e force 2650 on pump 93 since I dont have access to e85 in my area unfortunately. Ive had some people swear by it to help with temps and performance and had others tell me its a waste. My car is a weekend toy that may see the track 1 or 2 times a season that mostly just does some fun pulls here and there and go on little road trips. I was hoping to get some feed back from people with experience, would love to hear your pros and cons to running meth. Thanks in advance for any input

Water/meth will keep your engine clean increase octane and lower intake temps. The only downside is you have to buy the water/meth. If you don’t have e85 available then it’s a good option. The engine will not have any carbon buildup at all. You can set what rpm it activates at and stops so your not wasting it all the time. Not really any downside

Tuning for it is basically impossible to do correctly. If you’re stuck with 93 and want more power, consider an interchiller.

You just need a tuner that will work with it. Meth is huge with the GM guys.

It’s not so much about finding a tuner as it’s impossible to make it work correctly with the ford logic. Two issues come to mind.

1. Your maf transfer function has to either assume the meth is on or off. And whichever you assume it will have corrective fuel trims when it’s switched the other way.

2. The logic assumes it has full control over fuel flow. Most of the time it’s only a minor issue but there are about a dozen reasons the pcm might decide to turn off the injectors, such as a rev limit. Turning them off is perfectly fine unless the fuel has another way in (meth or perhaps nitrous wet shot). Now when the pcm turns off injectors some fuel is still getting pumped in, it’s just extremely lean or even building up if the ignition is cut as well.

Another issue is fuel distribution, which of course the coyote manifold is not designed to do. I recall some time back someone having evidence of severe mal-distribution of fuel with either a wet shot or meth injection. I wish I could find a link but it’s been several years ago.

Working fine over here. However, there are good questions about distribution.

I like meth on my GM cars so, I put it on this one. Car is tuned on E85 without Meth and it was added after the tune, data logged for no problems.

The pill is small enough to not cause a huge difference to the O2 sensors. It is just enough to promote cooling.

@Mach1Racer youre running e85 + meth?
I run Pump 93, pump E-85, VP X85, VP C85.

Depends on what pulley I’m running as I change my power/boost based on what doing with the car.

ID 1300’s, dual regulator, twin pumps…

Why you ask? Not to be funny but I know I’m not about to teach you anything. Just being honest.

My 447 c.i. (7.3 liters) LSX F1A94 GTO was 93 and twin 1000cc Meth injected.

1000rwhp on a T-56 man.

From the wording it looked like you were running e85+meth, which would be totally unnecessary to achieve peak performance so I was wondering.

Awesome GTO! IMO that and the GXP were some of the best all around performance cars ever made!

I am in fact using the Meth kit at all times. The AEM kit is on a map sensor which I have starting at 6 psi sloping to full at 12psi.

It does help with heat soak on back to black runs when doing roll racing. Usually, they want a minimum of two or three to break a tie.

Therefore, I am constantly doing 3 to 9 runs on the highway against multiple cars from 40mph to 140 or 60 to 160.

The first car to heat soak on a door to door race is the first car to lose. I have employed every method I’m most familiar with.

1. VMP Ice Tank
2. Removed the crash bar for a Steeda Race Front Bumper Bar which saves 10 lb and doesn’t block the Triple Pass Heat exchanger.
3. Methanol injection after the T/B

The car runs consistently and beats some TT cars as well as other SC cars. It is respected for what it is.

Even the 10-sp has been built and flows more Trans fluid and earlier. The trans stays around 130-160 after multiple hits.

Back to the Meth, is it required; NO.

Does it help me the way I’m using it? Yes

It provides extra cooling under boost as well as octane when I’m running pump E-85. In the winter, the E-85 was testing on my Fuel It Ethanol Bluetooth sensor at 71-74% which lowers the octane of the E-85. The Meth cover that as well.

Do everyone need it. No. I want it and use it daily as my lead foot will not give the car a rest.

As for as a GTO, I think I might go back a get another one. I miss that car. Once you beat a auto car with a stick from a dig, there is no re-runs and you aint got shit to say.

Had a Mach 1 in black too…. A non-HP car with the bits added but the hot ass cloth seats was for the birds. Got to new Mach with the A/C seat for them hot ass balls.

I've run meth for the last 4 years or so. I just use it for the extra protection since we have crappy 91 out here though. Not tuned for it. Just a safety net.
