FYI to anyone traveling in Virginia, reckless is treated just about the same as a DUI. My 96/55 ticket cost me ~$4500 after lawyer, ticket, insurance prem etc. Oh and the day in county plus 50 hours community service. Some places are less harsh but you’re screwed if you get popped in a small county.

I had a lot of fast fun in my last Mustang. Got pulled over for doing well over twice the limit and got a verbal warning because, as the officer put it, he didn't have to chase me. I was already on the side of the road almost stopped when he u-turned from the oncoming lane to "get" me.

I'm not saying it would stop all tickets, but a concealed carry permit (which I have had for 30 years) seems to change the conversation with constabulary down here in SE TX. I'm sure the same could be said for other places too.

I'm glad you were so lucky. I've had the same luck by being honest as well. Then park in a well lit spot, windows down, hands on wheel, car/truck off, when they walk up "officer, I have a conceal carry permit, and my pistol is located ____". Then yes sir, no sir.

Has worked well for me so far.

The stop was in Boone on 275 East by CVG.

I was in Boone county also. On ramp to I-75 close to Walton.

I also just pulled right over and waited. I was at 132mph when I looked in the rear view. I seen Blue Lights way back. I just pulled to the shoulder and waited.

We are close. I live off Buttermilk Pike. Work in the Atlas Building you can see from I-75 near Erlanger exit.

I think me pulling right over helped. Just how he approached the car I knew he was going to cut me lose.

I think in Boone they are mostly after drunks and drug users. If what you do only endangers yourself they tone it down a notch. Of course if you are a jerk they can put you in jail for 20 over.

Running in this State is an automatic felony. When you are caught you will get yer ass kicked by 4 or 5 pissed off cops, a night in jail, impounded car, meeting with the judge and possibly some real jail time.

Many years ago a Covington cop was chasing someone on foot and he fell off one of the bridges to Ohio and was killed. They made running a felony and they still don't play.

Around here in NH/MA triple digits will get you a night in jail.

Never been so happy that I missed 3rd…..
