This is such apples and oranges. So, yesterday I test drove the Challenger SRT 392 and Mustang GT, back to back, both 2014 models. Why the old models? 2015 isn't available yet, and I figured if I actually liked the one I'm test driving, I'm sure I'll love the 2015's. Put in my mind I have never drove a V8 before, or a RWD vehicle.
Let's start with the SRT 392. First of all, I like the way it sounds and feel when you rev the car, the whole thing shakes! The hood (and the car itself) felt huge but I had no problem with rear visibility. Once I got on the road, I felt like a kid in a playground. I was having so much fun. I hit the accelerator a bit and the car growls jumping from its place. It felt so powerful and sounded really good! TBH, I didn't expect to like it that much.
Now to the Mustang GT. It's comfortable, visibility is better, and it sounds so loud when you rev it, louder than the SRT, but also they both have different exhaust tones. Due to the location of the Ford dealer, I had a chance to take the car on a long straight road with no speed cameras. I hit the accelerator and the car seems very rapid but too smooth. It didn't feel overpowered, rather very quick. I could also smell the tires burning even though I didn't do a burnout, just a normal launch control.
Overall, I'm still confused AF. I don't know much about the mechanics of a car, so I don't understand exactly what Torque is, and how it affects the driving experience, but I think this is what I felt with the Challenger? Great power pushing the car from it's place even at low speeds? Honestly, I enjoyed the Challenger more, it was more fun. Please remember these were both 2014 models.
