My initial plan was to wait until next year and trade in my 2012 V6 (55k miles) for a 2018 GT but unfortunately the tires on my car are in really bad shape and have to be replaced very soon.

So, do you guys think it's worth it to spend $800-$900 and wait for 2018 MY ?

If it's not worth it then should I get the 2016 ? or wait for 2017 ?

Please let me know your thoughts.

Thanks

2018 might bring a 10 speed if you want an auto. As for tires, just get some cheap ones.

Get what you want. If you wait, you might not want it anymore. :)

Yep, OP if you try to trade it in with bald tires the dealer is going to ding you on the trade-in price anyway ... so regardless a set of new tires won't hurt either way.

when i bought eb in 2014.. i knew in 1 year i will get GT.. i bought eb to experiment. But as soon as 2015 got over.. i was on to get 2016 GT .. i waited just for sync 3... but waiting 3 -4 years from now..does not make sense.. there will always be something better and faster. why keep on pondering in future mate.. pull it get it now if you can

Stop waiting. You only live so long. Start enjoy it soon (if money permits).
The other way to look at is, your used V6 won't hold its value yet new car price will never get lower.

You're much better off to sell the car yourself rather than trade it in. You will lose a sizeable chunk of money otherwise.

If you fon't feel financially ready to buy a new car, get the tires. You're talking about 800-900 bucks in may 2016. you won't be able to get a 2018 until probably september of next year. that's 25k miles on those tires at that point, unless you don't daily drive your 2012. you'll get your money's worth out of them and still do ok on the trade.
