Debating between P1X and ESS G3. How many of you with lower boost and don’t rag your cars have had no crank snout failures? Looking to make a purchase soon and want to buy one of these….jusr depends on which I can get for a better price. Is the snout issue overhyped?

I heard it was less of an issue with centri cars since the power comes on a little more gently. I have never had one and at 140k miles now. Same with oil pump gears afaik

Honestly, how many do you see posted vs how many times you "hear" about it?

The idea is the crank gets more force on it since some companies don't run the blower of the existing belt, they add another pulley onto the crank and run it from there. So the force is farther out.

agreed, but procharger does both…the HO system keeps the crank pulley, whereas the Stage2 system replaces it, and does exactly that 😉

So for op who is looking for low boost the ho kit would be fine and run off the same belt correct?

That issue is one of the reasons I chose ESS over procharger, 1 less thing to worry about

Just asking as you mainly tend to hear about the negative stuff online rather than positive.

P1X for the past 3 years and about 17K miles. Running about 8lbs of boost with an A10 and 3.55 rear.

Mine has been trouble-free and uber reliable. Car is a beast on the street with a Wengerd tune and 93 octane.

Have had exactly 22 street roll on runs against virtually everything, Audi V10, Carrera 4S, Hellcats, Z06's, Turbo Dodges, BMW's, yada, yada. No one has outrun my GT, yet.

Beat them all.

Love my Procharger. The broke crank stuff can happen with a turbo, so relax and don't buy into all the negative hype.

I beat on my Procharged 2015 for nearly 5 years before putting on a crank support. I only mainly bought it because it was on a buddy’s car, he had crashed the car and was selling parts at super low prices so I jumped on it. I was beginning to launch on the 2step/transbrake. Out of those 2 the P1X is without a doubt a better unit.

It’s not just the procharger H.O kit that that runs on the factory serpentine belt, you can get a stage two from pro charger that runs on the factory belt. I have seen the stage two 50 state legal kit
Run a 3.7 upper pulley and a 20% O.D balancer for years without issues

Shoot me a PM if you’d like I’m an ESS dealer and can get you set up with a kit. The G3 is extremely popular for a reason and is priced very fairly. Can’t beat it.

What I think you meant is that you can get an HO kit with a Stage 2 intercooler.

The snout issue is really because the standard rotation kits with the pulley facing forward use a separate pulley from the standard serpentine system so it puts the belt out in front of the balancer. That's why most order cranks with larger crank snouts to mitigate the issue.
Its a big problem with PD blowers also.
Vortech, Ess and Procharger have kits that run the factory belt location. Ive got almost 70k miles on my Vortech kit. 55k with the original engine.

Procharger D-1X for about 2 years now. I had a freak encounter with a sheared Procharger crank pulley bolt. Once the one stud snapped the pulley was crooked giving me this god awful sound like my motor was done. Had to change the $384 Procharger crank pulley and all fine again.

Running a turbo, blower, whatever, you're gonna run into something eventually. It's what happens when you modify stuff.

A lot of talk on forums and social media, mostly negative about companies. I've spoken with Supercharger quite often, great customer service. They answer emails in minutes.
