Pricing motor build

Why would I waste 700 extra on I beams when h beams are know to handle 1000whp? I'm not looking to make 1500wp or break records I'm building a street car that maybe hit the track.
For how long? Everything has a fatigue life, and that is the limit for those rods.

Many people don't even think about what they are buying. They just go with what the internet tells them. H Beams will be just fine. I have been back and forth about this same topic before. The rod bolts are the weak link in most cases. Don't cheap out with rod bolts and you will be fine with H Beams. :thumbsup:

I think I'm going to have been calimer build up my transmission soon. See if the mt82 can hold up.

Then next year maybe I'll pull block sleeve and do rods pistons rings.

In regards to sleeving the block that's not something I can do myself right?

I'd highly doubt it. Best left to those that have the tooling to do these properly.

It's a very involved process.

No, it isn't what the internet tells me. I use to be a vendor and I don't half ass my builds. I've see enough h-beams fail. Mod once and be done. Your mind set, you might as well just keep your stock rods.

No way would I ever recommend someone sleeving their own block without that being their profession. I'm seen sleeved blocks fail. I would only want the best sleeving my block. Just look at who the vendors use to sleeve their blocks.

Why not just reuse your stock rods then :headbonk: Build your block once with the potential to put more power in the future. Or, one that can take extreme punishment incase you come into a situation the you get a lot of knock at teh track.

If you really wanna be cheap go with a 4.6 or 5.4. I know, I know, its "old" and not all fancy but they don't bust cylinders at sane power levels.

But on the coyote side of things, I would like to see someone do block filler on stock sleeves. I think the results would be interesting.

Like I posted before this started with a member posting he was not going to exceed the 1000 HP rated H Beam rods so he will be fine. Your H Beam failures you talk about I can almost bet was from going cheap with rod bolts. THAT is where the majority of rods fail.

:clap2: i was going to build a sleeved block with mps but after telling him my goals he talked me out of buying sleeves and not buying the i beams he said it would be a waste of mone. the mps 1200 block he offers comes with manley h beams

What is block filler?
There are different formulas but its basically a grout or epoxy or cement mixture you pour into the engine block's water jackets. it gets hard and reinforces the various parts of the block. Full fill is for race only. Partial fill can still have coolant running through the block. Some people get fancy and do a full fill but use various methods put water passages within the filler. Supposedly back in the day filling blocks with Embeco 885 was like top secret racing stuff lol.

Now you guys might not believe this but I have an old friend who has been pouring his iron blocks full of molten aluminum for a few decades lol. He has done several 351w's that way and after he did his brother (Chevy guy) started doing his Chevy's the same way.
