It's not like he's storing it for years. Pump up the tires a bit or move it a few times if you are paranoid.

As far as jack stands, I have heard that having a suspension at full droop does bad things to bushings and other components over time.

Just store it and sleep well.

Thanks for the pic. I'm anxious to see one of your car's body and undercarriage in 15-20yrs.

I've owned plenty of 90's modeled cars in the past 10 years that have been in salted states their whole life that were fine... I mean, if you don't expect to get any sort of surface rust on your car, you better keep dreaming.

IDK if I want to keep a car that long.:D
10-20 years you gonna have other issues than rust.

In the manual it has instructions on storing the vehicle for the winter. That's what I followed last winter.

I prep for winter by putting on the Nokians and factory wheels, making sure I have a good fresh layer of protection (top up of CarPro Reload lately), switching to the Weathertech floor mats, and now capping off the cutouts. Run it sun, rain or snow.

My fool proof method of a great winter storage is I do a healthy great burnout get all the rubber smell inside the car then pull it in garage and let it sit from thanksgiving till maybe st patricks day. No stabil. No battery tenders. No changing the oil. It is a mustang with a pickup motor (yes I know the difference but just a point) not a ferrari ! Enjoy these things! They are meant to be driven! In 10 years my car is going to be worth exactly the same as the other 500,000 they made. Nothing. Common guys dont save em for the next guy!

EMT don't let these guys get to you. I'm Canadian and a lot of people store these cars (at least anyone who plans to keep it more than a lease term). I'll be storing mine. I replaced a 20year old car with this mustang so I get it.

I'll also say: when shopping for a 3 year old vehicle for my wife I was amazed at the amount of corossion I saw on some vehicles (most buyers wouldn't have even noticed). I'm not talking rust on untreated parts I'm talking the start of rot. The stuff they spray on our highways is much harsher than what was used even 10 years ago.

Between 5 and 10 years is when the rot starts but you probably haven't seen it yet. It'll start inside and work it's way to the surface: rockers bottoms of doors etc.

If you were going to drive it all winter rust proofing would be a must do in my book.

Historically I've used a battery maintainer and stabil. I'll probably change the oil to keep the warranty valid. The manual also has a section on storage too with some recommendations.

I know some said not to worry about a cover but if I use one...does it matter how fresh/old the wax/seal is? Do I need to wait 1, 2, 7, etc. days before putting the cover on or can I wax it and then the next day put the cover on?

Thanks

My Miata and Mustang hang out in the garage during the winter months. I usually change the oil close to the time I'm going to store them, then fill them with a full tank of fresh gas. I take the batteries out and store them in my house. A couple times a month I'll put the batteries in, start them up and let them run for around 30 mins. If there's no snow and its not wet, I'll drive around the block slowly to get things moving a bit. Simple and effective.

I don't see why you would need to wait after waxing. That said other sealants or coatings I can't comment to.

When I lived in South Dakota I washed and waxed it. Fill the tank with fresh gas, dryer sheets in tail pipes and around engine (for rodents etc) pumped up a little xtra air in tires and a battery tender on battery. Sat 4 - 5 months. Started right up when taking out for spring.
