Have been running she'll 91 Oct. with 0 ethanol for a month. Figured I'd trow a tank of regular to see if there was any difference. Felt like the car was driving in mud. I would bet loosing 40+hp with the fuel difference. Shifts harder.. unfortunately anyone else have this experience. Best fuel economy was onhhighway. 6.2l/100km. Wishing Wishing I had Baught the 8 though

From page 127 of the owner's manual:

http://www.fordservicecontent.com/F...-Owners-Manual-version-1_om_EN-US_07_2014.pdf

2.3L EcoBoost and 5.0L V8 Engines
We recommend regular unleaded gasoline
with a pump (R+M)/2 octane rating of 87.
Some stations offer fuels posted as regular
with an octane rating below 87, particularly
in high altitude areas. We do not
recommend fuels with an octane rating
below 87.
To provide improved performance, we
recommend premium fuel for severe duty
usage, such as trailer tow.

Sounds like something else is amiss.

Ecoboost loses a good amount of power using 87oct gas. Something like 11-13%.

hmm weird. While it does lose some power it shouldn't be that much of a difference. I know for the V8 its something like 5HP

No problem that this has been discussed many times. And good for you that you've found this Forum...hey, we were all noobs here once. I said, "You've lit the fuse now" because of your last sentence. You said you wished you had bought the V-8...many ecoboosters here take grave umbrage to that. Seems like there's too many posts about "Regrets" and "Trading Up" every other day. Entertaining and amusing but not terribly informative. Really good for Popcorn though.

Haha. The ecoboost hasn't been disappointing it's fast as he'll and great fuel economy. Excellent daily driver. Hoping for gt350 for next purchase. Handling on the eco is rediculous though.pros and cons for both.

If everyone just searched old posts, how freakin boring would this forum be? A new question every two days? Because let's face it....every possible question regarding S550s has probably been asked on 6G once before.
You don't check this forum every day hoping there's no new posts right? It's a car forum which is a lot like a big living room with lots of bean bag chairs, couches and mood lighting. And we all chill here, sometimes when we're off work or sometimes while at work but bored and some of us are drunk, or high, or stupid.
But that's why we hang out here....it would be really boring and quiet if we were all sitting here reading to ourselves.

Oh!...and I try to use octane free gas...those octanes ruin your turboencabulator.

I agree, do not have a problem with the repeat, do not think this is a topic that comes up every day or anything. I have a GT and regularly go back and forth depending on the day, price, clothes that I am wearing, position of Mercury relative to Venus, etc. Have never noticed a difference, just mainly put in higher octane to feel like I am doing something positive every now and then. I do hear that it is a bigger difference on the Eco, but not sure if there is a difference between different grades of premium or if it just goes down on 87 only.
