I have a chance to snag some pp1 front brake calipers with hawk pads used. im wondering if this would be a good brake upgrade from my 4 piston caliper and brake pads. I occasionally go to the track but more so spirited driving. Also in case someone pulls out in front of me or i need to do an emergency braking, which one would perform better? i think for my car I would just need to buy the dust shield, rotors, and maybe new brake lines for the front pp1 brakes? after some spirited driving i don't feel confident in my brakes so much that if i hold the brake pedal, i can feel my brakes cooking. what are your thoughts? should i bite the bullet and get the front pp1 brake calipers or stick with the base 4 piston calipers?

It's a cooling issue. The 6 pots are very good but they are heavy. My solution was to get 2 piece rotors for the 4 pot calipers and add cooling. This so far has been plenty. Not only do I have brakes that do not fade in a 20 min session I lost 20 or so pounds from the front compared to the stock rotors.

The 23 4 pot rotors are properly cooled so all you would need to do is get a set of 23 4 pot rotors and cut an opening in the rock guard for better cooling. Adding a cooling duct will make this almost as good as the 6 pots.

If you do the 6 pots you will still need to add a cooling duct if you track with any speed.
so i can just order factory ford rotors for a 23 and they will vented ?did ford make all 23 4 pot rotors the new part number for 18-23 4 pot rotors?

I don't know if Ford changed all part numbers. Might have to wait till the inventory runs out. Yes if you order 23 rotors the opening for air will be in the rear or backside of the rotor. If the opening is in the front refuse them and make the parts guy get the correct ones.

They changed sometime in 2021, so what you can do is go online and find a used or new 2022-2023, get the VIN then do a part lookup using that VIN. Benny from Levittown Ford here on the forum should be able to help you too

Are the base GT calipers the same as what’s used on the ecoboost with the performance pack?

I bought a set of 6 piston Brembo take-offs from Shelby auctions on eBay. I can find the rotors but does anyone here know the part number for the dust shields?

It all adds up, I still think what you are feeling is 90% the rotors.
Since you swapped rotors to a floating style on your car, I'm sure you know better than I. I'm assuming by saying this you are also saying that the rotors made a huge difference in the braking of your car?

Yes, no more fade.

How about pedal travel? That's the biggest thing with the GT350 brakes is they are on immediately, but still really easy to modulate.

Definitely worth. Stopping power won't be noticeably different (this is more of a tire thing above a certain level of brake), but fade resistance and endurance is in another league. If you only street drive the base brakes are fine, but if you track its 100000% worth
100% they shed heat really well especially given the cost. i can usually overcook brakes on just about anything but haven't been able to get anywhere near the limits of these things. honestly, flawless.

Check out Car & Driver's latest issue with 0 to 150 MPH and back to 0 testing. The Dark Horse beat out the Corvette Z06 and the Porsche 911 Turbo in the braking portion. Enough said.

That the dh has better tires? Do a dozen short interval max effort stops and I wonder if rotor and caliper heat saturation might sort the datums a tad.

While tires are a big factor, the whole system is still very well designed and balanced. Its not like the trofeo is using some unobtanium rubber. People put too much stock into treadwear ratings when they're mostly made up and not standardized.
