It turns off at each stop? Can you deactivate that feature?
That I don't know.... you may have settings for that in the mft or mykey... but that part I don't know... one of the ecoboost stang guys might Beale to answer that or even the owners manual

Really? Because you can spec out a Mustang to almost 50k.. which is the close to the entry price of the corvette.. So your argument fails
No it's really your argument that fails. Like the first guy said, they are not comparable cars as obviously evident by the price tags.

First off spec'ing this car out to the max (close to the 50k you mentioned) does nothing but worsen your feel economy, because you're adding weight the all but the recaros. So that statement in it's self is COMPLETELY short sighted.

On the other hand, what pushes the corvette to it's fuel economy is the weight savings. To get to that 54k entry point of the corvette, your paying for carbon fiber, aluminum, and other composite materials to save weight. Most of which is very expensive. The primary reason the cost is down to 54k and not much higher is because the car is vastly smaller (also adding to the weight savings) and even illuminating the back seat. Then they put the same engine it it as the camaro.

All that being said, it's not that the engine of the corvette is just soooo efficient it get 29 mpg. It's that you pay for all the weight saving to allow the engine to spend more of it's power moving the car rather than fighting weight and drag. And you pay every bit of that with the price difference from gt entry to corvette entry. Don't get it twisted. That extra 17k you take on to a base GT has nothing to do with the engine. You're paying for 17k of luxuries that also add weight.

Also, the corvette gets 29 hwy, 21 combined, and 17 city. Mustang GT gets 25 hwy, 19 combined, 16 city. 19 to 29 is the wrong comparison. 19 to 21 or 25 to 29 is. So with all the "weight savings" and dynamics you have with the corvette, you still don't gain much in the fuel economy. Put the 5.0 in a corvette and see if you get better...

And just to put this all to rest. The GTmanual gets 25 hwy the vette at 29 hwy can be easily explained just in weight and I'm sorry but no one is ever going to spend that much on either car and drive it that slowly and cautiously. Even at 75 you are already looking at a 3 mpg drop from rated.

So what would you call the Corvette then? Because its a 400 + HP car that gets 29 MPG on the Hwy...
The mpg on a vette even with cylinder deactivation is unrealistic in real world driving... unless you are cruising normally... you might get those numbers. But throw in realistic driving, cylinder deactivation will never engage unless you are cruising or at a stop..... show me where a vette driver cruising versus spirited driving

We've already seen the screen shots of GTs putting up those HIGHWAY numbers. It's the City driving and the hooning around that burn fuel, welcome to daily life. And of course, Corvettes do the same thing. No car is exempt from the laws of physics, and a Corvette's 29 highway cannot be compared with a Mustang's 18 or so around town.

Are you sure it has this? I haven't heard anything about that yet. Also, I have an ecoboost and certainly haven't noticed it happening and I would suspect I would feel something.

Eco boost already has the start stop tech on it... it's ok... but better than cylinder deactivation

I know my GT Premium has engine start/stop under settings. I have yet to have the engine stop on me but I just assumed it was because it was in some type of break in period.

The EcoBoost (which mine is) does not have the start/stop tech on the Mustang...

Ahh... that makes sense. If I would've known the F-150 had it, I probably would've assumed the ecoboost mustang had it too. Thanks for the clarification.

Yeah, and you can spec out a Corvette to be over 80K, so...

You have to compare base price to base price. Plus, a Corvette has two fewer seats and is a smaller, lower, lighter car. The Mustang is more of a touring car than an all-out sports car. So some compromises had to be made.

Just a quick shot of a 26 mile highway run at around 65 mph. This included two stops at a toll both. After 5 fill-ups, the computer reads about .4-.5 mpg higher than actual. I've averaged right around 26 mpg overall, 70% city, 30% highway.

Not bad!

Mixed driving. About 70% highway in the mountains and 30% around Charlotte. While trip used just shy of a tank.
