Still my favorite color!
Emperor Red, its sort of in between Ruby Red and Rapid Red.

Sorry if I've told this story before, but color is second to the powertrain in terms of importance for me.

And oh how I agonized over that color. Back in 2014 when I was ordering the car, I wanted fire-engine red! However, Ford had discontinued Vixen Red the year prior. I had shortlisted Kinetic Blue (like Velocity), Smoke (like carbonized grey) and Emperor Red. Kinetic and Smoke I had seen in person as they were popular choices, and while Emperor had been available on the previous model, it was relatively rare and I hadn't seen many in person. In the end, I decided I wanted something out of the ordinary, which ruled out Kinetic and Smoke and I finally went with Emperor.

At the time, as this was the new model, I had pre-ordered the vehicle. Once my final spec was locked in, it ended up being two or three months before the car was build and delivered to the dealer. Over that two-month period, I was desperately hunting around for Emperor Red Falcon's and Territory SUV. Why? Because I wasn't quite sure I had made the right choice as in some photos, Emperor could come across quite dark, whereas I wanted that cherry-red look. It wasn't until the car arrived at the dealer did I fall in love. Parked in the showroom delivery bay, even with the stickers and dust on the car, I knew I had made the right choice.

Emperor is deep and rich in the shade but really comes alive in direct sun. It's that duality which makes it such a rewarding color, I especially love the gold metallic POP when the sun shines just so.

Happy National Mustang Day (at least here in the US, not sure if our global friends also celebrate). An oldie but a goodie

Finally tackled the aftermath of this week’s road trip to Eureka Springs. The front of the car looked like a bug graveyard, but it’s looking shiny again now.

Not the greatest pics, had to hurry and get it back in garage as we have some storms approaching. Will get better pics later this week.

Quick ONR rinse less wash, polish with Rupes yellow dimple pads (might be my new favorite pads), Sonax Perfect Finish and Armour Detail Supply ceramic coating. The coating is super easy to apply, follow the directions they provide and it does exactly as they say it should. Will follow up later this evening with Amplify to protect the coating while it cures (ADS recommends this).

Edit: don’t look at my wheels and tires LOL. I will be addressing those later and will be applying ADS Ghost to the tires. I wanted to get the car coated before the storms rolled in

Surely one of THE best Mustang colors ever! So much saturation and gloss going on there! :like:
