Does anyone know if the mustangs saddle tank is split evenly on both sides of the car? I may be having a venturi failure (pulling fuel from the passenger side).

Long story short, this morning on the way home, I had to stop and get fuel. What said 50 miles to E quickly turned into a 12 miles to E in the matter of 4 miles. Once it got to 25 miles to E it was dropping a mile every 5 seconds or so. Very quickly.

Once I filled up, the car only took 12 gallons. There's no way I'd still have 4 gallons left with 12 miles to E, would I? Doesn't make any sense.

I mean I could have a malfunctioning sending unit? The float arm is perfectly fine. I pulled it out about 6 months ago to inspect it for this same issue. Just never got around to it.

Thanks.

Yeah the passenger side has a level sending unit with the venturi pickup. Drivers side has the pumps and another level sender.

I’d pull em and see if they’re sticking or if they move free.

Have you checked if your car is impacted by the fuel pump recall? I saw that someone here actually had one go out while driving. I replaced mine since i didn't want to take the risk. When replacing i read some folks bend the level arm when putting it back in the tank.

Mine was doing the same type of shit, ended up replacing both sending units, even though I think it was just the driver side unit that was the issue... has been working fine since.

If it is the 2020 GT in his sig, it is in the recall.

OP, if you have never removed the necessary parts to access the pumps, there is no need to be afraid. Removal and replacing them is extremely easy.

I wonder if Ford is going to reimburse owners who have replaced their own fuel pumps, if and when they ever decide to follow through on the recall? There's no excuse for the one year plus delay.
