They pretty much have PP GTs with the option of an auto transmission in Europe (UK) now (I know as its the sec Im getting) so there's no real reason not to have it in the US.
Except they're not full PPs. No Torsen, no 3.73 gear, no strut tower brace and who knows what else. Different spec.

I think that has a lot to do with the MT82. I have the PP and I have to drop to a lower gear when going through the traps I have to shift 5th which kills my MPH. Plus I have the Whipple and the 3:73 are just to tall for the power band
Besides OP is talking about automatic. Even 3.55 is too much for the very aggressive 1st gear on the auto.

I have 3.55s in auto and 1st is basically useless. You can tell when you paddle shift it; it revs up right away so fast it gets you to 10mph basically.

I will typically start in 2nd from a stop using the paddles.

Yes, the 4.17 fist gear with 3.55 rear drive is almost 14.8:1 ratio where manual 3.66 with 3.73 rear drive is 13.6:1 ratio.

It's nuts too tall, almost to the point of useless. Even letting it shift itself it's out of 1st in about 2 seconds on the pedal.

This is definitely where an 8 speed auto would shine that's coming in the next few years here to the Mustang.

:gossip:Here's my take. No major changes on S55O in 2017 . No auto PP either. Any changes will hit the design in 2018 refresh. 10 speed auto , possible interior change to dash, front and rear exterior . Ford might put a auto PP in the 18 model year matched to the new 10 speed transmission. Yes, Ford is pushing the ecoboost engines. Lincoln twin turbo ecoboost 400hp as well. No increase in Mustang ecoboost 4 in 2017 as well. Technical specs on engines 4,6,8 will remain as is they are 2016.:rant:

Never considered this. Would you recommend shying away from going 3.55 in auto for people who are always neck deep in traffic where a lot of time is spent in 1/2nd gear?

Nah they're fine, it's not jerky or anything, but if you put the pedal down you wont use muh of 1st before getting into 2nd is all. I do 99.9% city driving and theyre fine.

Until you line a manual GT vs a an auto GT same driver and the auto wins. You can''t outshift a computer on the newer autos.
