that Ford Performance one looks like a PITA to install and drain though. Do you have to completely unhook it to drain it? Thought you had to disconnect lines to install it too. I don't think I need a catch can anyways with my relatively normal driving.
Yea from what I have read most people take the top part off to wipe the inside to clean it. I did not install it though.

There at least two possibilities.
Either via the bottom hose connector or by removing the lid and sucking it out with a syringe.
No big deal.

Its super easy. I do it every oil change. I just remove the two coolant reservoir bolts and unclip it from the clamps. Then remove the screws and drain. Takes about 5 minutes no complains here.

It can be even faster, just unhook two quick-connects and pour out from the bottom hole, only very small amount will stay in, then reconnect. Takes 2 minutes tops. Good practice when checking oil and fluid levels once in a while.

While it may not be needed, it's worth it for the warm and fuzzy feeling you'll have after installing it 😁

I went with the Ford but dislike having to mess with the disconnects each time. Does J&L or someone have a remote mount one that puts the separator away from the coolan tank? I thoght I'd seen some that put the separator by the radiator core support.

I drilled and taped the bottom for 1/4-20 and use a nylon thumb screw with an o-ring

Love the easy access of the JLT bracket mounted reservoir, as it is relatively easy to empty at oil changes with no mess. But I appreciate the OP bringing the chafing issue up, as I didn't realize the chafing issue I had under the engine cover with nearby electrical wires.

When initially installing the JLT I had significant chafing against the AC condenser line. I installed cable tie securing the hose to a nearby harness to prevent chafing with the AC line, and of course with the harness I secured it too.

I would have preferred a shorter hose to go straight from the reservoir to the intake, eliminating the looping. But then I hated to cut into JLT's hose.
