I’ll be putting in my passenger side Ford Performance Oil Separator and the directions say to torque down the cam cover bolt on the valve cover. What’s everybody’s opinion on just doing it by hand? I don’t have a torque wrench, and don’t feel like going to buy one for this job.

I did it by hand. It’s not a bearing. It will be fine. I try to replicate the torque it took to take it off.

Before loosening the original bolt, “feel” it out to get an idea of how tight it is. I actually bought a torque wrench for this knowing that I will need it for future mods. Be careful with the plastic wire harness mount that secures it to the block. I broke mine trying to force it off. (Use a pointed tool).

Thanks for the quick replies. I did the hand tighten and feel it got it pretty close. I do have another question about the plastic wire harness mount, as I put it back on the front cover stud bolt with the oil separator bracket installed, the left "wing" of the bracket is rubbing against the cylinder head. Has everyone else had the same fitment? I could trim the Left "wing" so it doesn't rub but with as flimsily as the piece is, I am worried about it breaking as First Stang mentioned. I can take a picture of needed. Thanks!

Thanks! I took a couple pics of what I’m talking about. The top left corner of the plastic wiring is just touching the engine head. I’m probably overthinking it, should I not worry about it?

Thanks for the reply. As it turns out, I broke it anyway despite trying to be careful with it! @First Stang, where do you get a replacement??
