"It’s highlighted by a lower stance, a redesigned front splitter and rear spoiler, and 305/30/R19 Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires wrapped around split-fitment aluminum wheels – 19x10.5-inch front and 19x11-inch rear."
Thank you sir.

As I think about it, the standard PP is the 275/40 much taller than the 305/30? Must be a bit.

The "over 1/2" change in height, is likely entered due to the smaller tire diameter.

The PP2 tires sidewalls are ˜0.4" lower in the front (255/40 vs 305/30) and ˜0.7" lower in the rear (275/40 vs 305/30) vs PP1. That should average to ~0.5" lower. That should also slightly transfer weight to the hear.

The overall diameter in the rear is substantially smaller (-5.4% vs PP1), having the same effect as increasing the gearing on PP1 from 3.73 to 3.93, that should help acceleration on most tracks.

Also I'm glad Ford stayed with 19" - so many more tire options than 20" wheels.

Now - that 0.5" greater width is aggravating. Only thing ruining a perfect wheel/tire choice by Ford.

Now, notice how even in the Ford release they slipped in there "We were NOT focused on weight reductions".

To me that is a preemptive give away that PP2 thing will be substantially heavier than 1LE.

The Mustang is already heavier than the Camaro, and as far as I know, there were no weight reduction priorities on the 1LE.

I mean even on the ZL1 then changed from the Mag dampers because of weight.

It's almost sacrilege to some (including myself) but the 10-speed auto in a PP2 would be killer.
Not sacrilege at all to give your customers choice. Sales of the Corvette Z06 skyrocketed once an auto was made available on the C7 generation.

For track rats like me though, I'm glad the 1LE and PP2 are manual only. That means that any cars with these packages on the secondary market will be manual.

Just watch. There will be a flood of PP2 and 1LE 1 or 2 years out hitting the market for a bargain. A lot of people who spec the "performance option" and don't track their cars will find that it is hard to live with the PP2 on the street.

I hope to God, Recaros are an option and not required. I don't think my fat ass would fit in Recaros lol. Don't like the wheel sizes. Should either be 10.5 or 11's all around for rotation purposes.

Edit: looks like should be able to get normal seats. Might actually get this car. Peaks my interest over any other s550. Yes Shelbys r nice but too many issues and markup is dumb.

Not a fan of the chin spoiler just being a second piece bolted underneath instead of a completely different design, but whatever. I liked how the 15-17 PP cars had a different mold of the splitter than the non-PP cars. Having one piece looks cleaner, IMO.

As others have stated, I don't understand having the same size tires on two different size wheels, unless the 19x11s simply won't fit on the front--which I imagine is the case, otherwise it makes zero sense.

Other than that, it looks like a great package for those looking to get an 18.

In short PP2 has all 350 chassis/suspension the only difference being the engine and wheel design.
Far from all. Unless they included the aluminum front spindles.

You sir are actually one of few GT350 owners who actually browse and comment in the open forum so my comment wasn't really aimed at you. I do gotta admit the GT350 sound is hard to beat, but if someone can get 98% of the performance for 70% of the price, why not? I'm counting OTD price on both, GT350 would be $65k GTPP2 $45k.
I agree, generally - but maybe I missed it...a few things left on the table.

- which transmission?
- which front knuckles?
- any trans or diff coolers?
- oil cooler? (GT might already come with this, I just don't know ATM)

It does sound like a great bargain but I'm still trying to figure out the final price.

Other question - what is the total weight and what do the wheels weigh? If the wheels aren't too heavy - I like them enough that I'd buy another set with street tires on them.

I'm surprised how fast they are passing BOSS and GT350 performance now.

The Mach1 was 2nd only to the Terminator until the 5.0 came out. That was about 6-7yrs? The v3 4.6 was close but weight + a bit less top end flow made it stay just behind it.

The BOSS 302 and GT350 seem to have been passed 1-2yrs later after their release. It's starting to make those cars feel less "special" when their performance is so quickly over taken by a lower priced GT with a package option on it.

Same issue with the King Of Road GT500. Like the next year, or year after ALL the parts that made the KOR GT500 special were suddenly standard.

It's really starting to feel that the top end Mustangs are just "next revisions performance, now". They didn't used to be like that.

We will see - I suspect that Ford still left enough meat on the bone for the GT350 to still easily outpace the PP2 setup. The tires are a +, for sure - but imagine a GT350 on sticky tires (the MPSS were already sticky!).

Here's my concern. Now they are selling a $45k car with Cup 2s. That's awesome for the enthusiast but many people buying Mustangs are going to DD them. Those tires are a horrible DD tire. They are somewhat dangerous in the rain when new...and at that width, will be deadly in the rain. They throw rocks all over the place - I've broken a friends windshield with cup 2s, at which point I put MP4S tires on my R so that I could go on back road drives with my friends and not pepper their cars. Anyone buying the PP2 to DD should factor in the price of a different set of wheels and street tires to go with.

What are they going to cut out though? Someone buying one of these can cut some weight out of the gate but there is no way Ford was going to reduce weight on the fly. There is just no way the car is going to lose weight. The next gen I am sure it will be something Ford looks at but it was never going to happen on the 6th gen. The IRS added a lot and it is overlooked.

They are a option. They don’t come with the pp2. You can get cloth with base GT and leather with the premium.

Basis? You are possibly correct, but everything seems to be a bit ambiguous. If PP2 doesn't come with Recaros that will be something the 1LE will have over it. I sat in a 1LE, the Recaros are nice, not strictly "race" and the faux suede was very grabby.
