I think the situation for the Maps version 2020.2 is that it can NOT be downloaded from a PC, it must be downloaded in the car. That is what happened for both my Ford vehicles.
Not sure what you mean. I’ve always downloaded the update from the Ford map website to my Mac and then put it on a usb. I understand that 1.19 could be done via WiFi but it took forever.

Ira, you have always been able to download on a PC to a USB until version 2020.2
Maps version 2020.2 must be downloaded with WiFi in the car.
Yes, it took forever to do two vehicles.

Aha!!! Thank you Tony, I didn’t know that. So folks that do not have WiFi can longer update their maps?

I didn’t say lose it, I said don’t have it. Not everyone has high speed Internet/WiFi available to them. How do they get map updates?
I would imagine go to your Dealer?

Considering it took days to fully download and install over WiFi with at least 15 install packages, there is no telling what the size of the total downloads are.

You can download the 2020 maps to your PC from the Cyanlabs web page. They have a piece of software that you install on your PC. In the software you pick your region, the version of of Sync 3.4 you want and the version of the maps you want. The software will download the needed files format the USB drive and copy over the files.

I updated to 3.4.21020 and the 2020 maps a few months ago. Went for a drive while the install occured. It took less than an hour but not much.

Thanks Dave but having a car under warranty precludes me from using Cyanlabs. I’ll just wait until they release it on USB.

Just type in your VIN and pay $40.

Really, that is odd for Ford doing that. I guess I have to connect the car to my WiFi and see.
