One final thought I have: now that the battery is replaced and you've accomplished a BMS, disconnect the negative terminal of the battery, and let the car sit overnight. Letting it sit for several hours unpowered won't hurt. And it could allow whatever is hung up to completely de-energize and begin working correctly again.

If you try this, and I do think it's worth a shot, turn the headlight switch to their manual on position after the battery is disconnected. Leave it that way overnight. This should insure that anything that can discharge will.
I'd then turn the headlight switch to the off position before reconnecting the battery.
Also, if you have one, connect the battery to a charger while it's disconnected to be sure it's completely charged when you reconnect.

It's too late now but shoukd he turn on fog lights overnight as well as low beams. on my 2019 fog lights have to be turned on in manual mode

Honestly don't know. Couldn't hurt. The suggestion was something I've heard over the years as a means to discharge storage capacitors used to retain memories. Sometimes memories are not kept that way but actually, for lack of a better way to say it, written into a chip. Maybe it will help, maybe not. But it is something I would do/try in a similar situation.

no,

I was a bit shocked at how many problems there were after changing the battery.

Spent hours trying to get most of it working again. Perhaps unnecessary, and resets itself after a long drive. But hope there is another way.

. It either works thru cigarett lighter or your obdn port

They're honestly not needed.
Had the battery completely out of my Fusion for 5ish hours this past week. Didn't lose a single setting. Nothing, no unusual lights, or lack of, just no difference at all.

If I were to speculate on the OP's issue my money would be on his attempt to have a charger connected to the cables while removing the battery. My suspicion is when one of the charger cables slipped off it created a voltage spike which caused his issues. Much like how, with modern cars, you shouldn't jump start them from another vehicle.

A jump pack. I carry one in every car I own.
I suppose if you're desperate you can use cables but you need to follow a very specific order of operations to protect the jumped and jumping vehicles.
To me, it's not worth the risk. Decent jump packs can be had for $100, take up very little space, maintain their charge up to a year and have protection against improper hook-up. Some also come with flashlights, the ability to charge phones/devices and even tire inflators.

Could it be that the indication is separately secured? So a blown fuse while the light still work?

a jump pack is completely isolated. Jumper cables introduce a number of opportunities to create voltage spikes and provide zero protection against polarity reversal. And with cables the risks are to both vehicles.

I believe he was trying to provide a way to retain settings without hooking anything to the battery cables. Neither is really necessary though.

Thanks they actually now make smart jumpers that won't allow a jump if polarity is wrong.duralast makes them with a built in voltmeter so you can test your bad battery to get its status
I have digital voltmeter so don't need it. cables are 40 bucks at autozone .I think OP is afraid of having to reset everything again.im 78 and have never lost sett I ngs when changing batteries .but I do use the 9v just in case.
