I believe the OP is talking about the new “flat” colors, not blacks/whites vs yellows/reds?
If he’s talking about matte finish vs glossy, I’d still go with a brighter color in a matte finish. The matte gray’s in particular are a bit boring to me, but that’s my personal preference.

As a general comment, I do like matte finishes. Has a unique kind of look to it. Ford offers matte PPF from factory as an option, might be what he’s asking about? I would do matte finish on Grabber Blue for sure. It could look really good on that new Magenta color too.

I took it that way too. Even coloros that are typically bright are all muted. I love the classic late 60s colors of Mopar, which started to come back. But my current super duty is red, and even it is muted because it's dark red.

I'd argue there is a marked lack of eccentric thought, which in turn leads to these muted colors. This is why the S650 is just a slightly beefier S550, instead of the massive change the S550 was over the 197. And the 197 was a massive change over the SN95.

Mine stands out, sometimes too much for an old guy, I think.

I personally don’t like flat or matte colors on a car/truck, but that is my opinion… for those who like, enjoy.
functional is not stupid.

flat colors in theater serve a tactical purpose because you don't want blinged out shiny stuff giving away your position :D

I will admit that silver by itself is bland like a plain rice sushi. Mach 1 decals totally transforms it for me though. The “bland color” offers the best contrast to any other color you put on them. Essentially, this contrast makes it “pop out” as a Mach 1. looking forward to blacking out the roof this fall.

Must say when mine is clean (like it is today after a wash) it kinda grows on you. Glossy but no metallic at all. I definitely don't object to bright colors though.

Personally not a huge fan of bright colors for my cars (eg yellow, neon greens, etc.). I like color, but not bright ones. For example, I love a nice midnight blue metallic or a nice crimson red metallic. My GT was Ingot silver, I like silver because it really shows the body lines on whatever car it’s on. I ordered shadow grey metallic for my ZL1 which looks grey in cloudy weather, or super dark/midnight blue in some light, and even has a teal hue in some lighting. I like it but sometimes wish I ordered the wild cherry tint coat. My Supra is avalanche grey but mostly looks like a dark silver, which I like a lot. It was the only option when I bought it but it’s probably what I would have chosen anyway.
