This leaked back when the contract was signed with the UAW, the question is what do we know about this engine

i seriously doubt it’ll come to the s550 this late in it’s life more than likely it’ll be the launch engine for the s650 but that raises more questions than answers, i believe if it is true you’ll see something like this

the 5.0 will end up being the hybrid engine and the 6.8 will be the new mustang GT engine

besides that your guess is as good as mine what do y’all think will become of this

My 2 cents.... you'll never see the new 6.8 in a Mustang as a factory option, unless it's some ultra-low production special drag car like the Cobra Jet.

I hope I'm wrong, though, because that engine in a new Mustang would be nothing short of badass.

i agree but we got a lot of leaks saying otherwise

so something is up also i don’t see it being a pushrod engine. Unless they want to do a cool retro or legacy edition

something is definitely up

Is Ford building an OHC version of the 6.8 you think? That would be cool.

6.8 for the v8 and the "ecoboost" be a turbo v6? based off lincoln platform no? what do they have that would match these engines.

That would be a nice combination.
I'm sure they would keep the 4 cylinder Ecoboost though....lower tariff to export overseas on 4 cyl vs 6 cyl in some countries.

I think when the said 6.8 in a Mustang they were either misinformed, misheard, or just wanted to hear that. No way a 6.8L is going in a Mustang.

You think? Even with it being stated the s650 is supposedly more challenger sized?

Not sure how confirmed it is, but thats been stated a few fimes. If its true..a bigger displacement engine with more torque might be in the mustang future.

2.7L hybrid ecoboost is the only thing in the Mustangs future. ;)

Agreed Wildhorse....I think engines will be going smaller/hybrid/all electric rather than bigger old school ICEs...

Developing a large V8 when V8s are basically disappearing, would be extremely unlikely IMO. And even more with an almost assured democratic administration. I'm a V8 guy, but that's just wishful thinking. We should find out soon enough who's right. Ha ha.
