Hi all, I'm running a 2015 mustang gt with a sleeved motor, comp stage 3 blower cams, fore triple pump fuel system with id1300s whipple gen 3 and Lund tune on e85. Previously made around 950rwhp.

Somehow something got into the whipple and it locked up. I think motor is fine because when I take belt off the car starts right up.

So apparently it is 4700 To have the whipple repaired.

A new whipple gen 3 is 4300.

Whipple gen 5 is 7500.

On3 upgraded kit is about 6500.

I'm debating switching and going turbo but is it a pretty direct fit kit or takes all kinds of fabrication? Would I regret switching from whipple to turbo?

If I stay whipple, would I gain anything going gen 5 vs gen 3 or save the money stay gen 3?

Once I figure path forward to fix car, I am then thinking of buying another auto coupe 2015-17 low mileage nice s550, swap motor etc over put a nice roll cage in and start drag racing again with my son starting lower in power range and building up slowly as he learns.

Last option would be to put car back to stock and sell all aftermarket parts. Issue is mainly the motor wouldn't make sense to sell car "stock" with a sleeved motor So not sure what I would do there. Buy a stock motor and sell my short block?

I still want a nice comfortable reliable sports car so then I'm not even sure what other car I'd look into.

Can we discuss what you have done in my situation or would do? Is there an avenue I haven't thought of?

A new whipple gen 3 is 4300.
If you have a newer version I would not do this.

Turbo will make more power than a blower but the blower will make more power at lower RPM. It will suffer from turbo lag. I love turbo top end and I love Blower low end. I hate turbo lag.

This I can't answer, call whipple.

Depending on the answer from Whipple I'd probably go whipple gen3 new and try to sell the locked up unit.

Now if whipple says the gen 5 makes more power and has cooler IAT's I'd spend the extra money.

A new gen3 is $4300 but to repair the gen3 you have is $4700? How does that make any sense?

Have you verified that the Gen5 isn't just the blower, but all the supporting components you'll need?

Hate to say it, but whipple has and does hide costs. If you buy a CJ lid, they don't tell you that you have to also spend $400 on the fittings (which is pretty dishonest given that you can't install and complete the swap without them.

I would stay clear of On3 unless you're very crafty/handy. There's quite a bit of custom fitting, relocating PCM, etc, that you'll either pay a shop or do yourself. It's certainly not plug/play.

Have you looked at ESS? Bang/buck they're right up there.

If you plan on anything more than 900, I recommend getting a PCMtech setup where you can program boost by gear (or go turbo).

If you're just wanting to stay around 800 or so, then a new Gen3 seems like the cheapest and simplest route. $4300 and you simply swap in a new blower.

Yeah im going through all these thoughts right now for direction.

I agree I dunno why rebuild is so much more money. Doesn't make sense to me either.

I was making 950 wheel with gen 3 and 3.0 upper pulley. I'd like to make over 1k wheel.

What is ESS? Turbo? I'll have to Google am not familiar with them.

I say it really depends on what you want. Cheapest route is fixing your current supercharger and sticking with that. ESS is a centrifugal supercharger, which I don't see a reason to go that route unless you want that Centrifugal blower, but it is a nicely priced kit and very easy to install and get working... you will want the G3X, G3R or G4 if you surely want to go over 1,000rwhp. G3 will be maxed out around 900rwhp.

The on3 turbo kit will probably require a bit of work, if I was going turbo, I'd probably spend a little more and go with one of the Hellion kits... will surely save you some headaches.

Is that a 2.9?

Gen 5/6 would be an upgrade....possibly find a used 2.9 cheap?

is VMP still running deals on the Odins? Does Edelbrock still sell the 2650 TVS?

I have a 2650 TVS that I took off my car I'd be willing to sell but he's probably closer to getting another whipple.
