Ask every mt-82 owner with a turbo if they wish they had an auto. 97% will say auto! If you have a manual get a PD blower and be done.
OP, I'm in same boat...but quotes like this^^^keep driving towards the PD

Whats the big deal about having an MT-82 with a turbo?

I guess im in the 3% I had no problems with the manual trans with the turbo setup other than it breaking but I broke 2 with my PD blower setup and only one with the turbo setup making 200 more hp!

Auto will always be faster at the track but stick will always be more fun on the street with either setup.

This is something that either most people don't understand or ignore or simply don't know how much fun a manual is than just pressing on gas pedal.
You can have so much fun with TT 9the way boost comes) and manual (how you control the RPM & gear).

BTW Ben, are you the one who is doing those beautiful welding for Chris's project? :hail:

Driving my auto BMWM235(twin scroll single /inline 6) and manual Audi S4(supercharged V6) back to back, the difference in throttle response is quite glaring .

The M235 is tuned(piggy back) has cat less down pipes/intake(waste of money),makes 400 rwhp /475 lb/ft torque and runs 11.9@113 mph .
In contrast, the S4 is bone stock and I have only managed a 13.2@106(may be due to my crappy driving) but I much prefer it for daily driving because of the throttle response -not that the M235 is not fun since it makes max torque at 1500 rpm stock(2000 with the tune )

OEMs, design their turbos so close to the engine, almost attached in some cases that virtually eliminates the lag. I much prefer a powerful Turbo directly from manufacture. Hoping GT500 will be such as...

Proper turbo setup is a blast on the street. You cant expect it to come into power as soon as a PD blower setup. You can expect it to smack you in the seat when it hits and pull way harder up top! Power potential is far greater, easier on the engine, more efficient etc.

To each their own!

Ben,I am not doubting or questioning any of the above, especially coming from you and other experts.

Like you said "to each their own".I AM suggesting someone coming from a PD set up try and get a "test drive" in car with with a Tubrbo,if they can before they make their decision.

I am lucky enough to have had (and will have again) the best of both worlds both OEM and aftermarket .

Even though my Hellion car is not as fast as others (10.0@141 on race gas -hopefully it is about to get faster on E85 ) I would not trade it for a PD blower car at the strip.

For ME (also having had both like you) I would still rather have a PD as a street car.

Like you said "to each their own"
Lol

For sure I completely agree, if possible test drive both!

I enjoyed my PD setup it just wasnt fast enough and making a PD as fast as I want ruins everything I like about a PD setup.

You mention the possibility of autoX, which would push me towards the PD blower due to the throttle response. In my experience, turbo cars are tough at the AutoX due to the lag.

A centri is better, but still builds boost as RPMs climb, while the PD has instant torque. The centris are more efficient typically one they are up to speed, but for an autoX I'd think the PD would be the most rewarding.
